Next in my series of old DND spells you might enjoy in 5e

Fire Charm

A campfire, candle etc that is already active you can put a spell trap on it that any who stare could be transfixed by it until the fire or spell ended.

Spell component was a thin multicolored silk that burns into the fire.

Well yes, certainly, but more importantly from a human perspective, failure wears on people.

When things aren't working well, when plans are falling apart, when you aren't seeing things go your way, that's when you also start to see anxious behavior patterns.

I get that it's easy to be worried. I get it, I really do, I've been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder for nearly two thirds of my life at this point.

But. If you stop and look at how they are acting, and how their supporters are acting, it's very clear-

Trump is repeatedly talking about death, and has had several health scares.

Hegseth has been reported to be WILDLY manic by people close to him.

Bondi is honestly keeping it together the best, but even she is worn out, and isn't throwing her weight when refused access to locations *on camera*.

This is part of the reason why I try to push back against doomerism so much in regards to the Trump Administration.

From a behavioral psychology perspective, everything about how they are acting is a very bad sign for *THEM*.

They're showing clear indications of anxiety.

I tend to have magic be an extension and expression of the subconscious, and with power being a corrupting influence anyone with magic tends to become very... exaggerated versions of themselves very quickly. Explains the whole flamboyant eccentric wizard or dark wizard tropes.
