The national disgrace of Indigenous people dying in custody continues unabated. Whether Labor or Liberal, the major parties continue to fail Indigenous communities at federal, state and territory levels. #auspol #deathsincustody

Something I enjoy about bsky is getting to see so many writers and creative working on projects big and small, sharing their wins and milestones. It's just neat.

If there is any justice, Trump’s name will stand not among peacemakers but among those who proved how easily the language of peace can be turned inside out; how empire dresses its crimes in the robes of virtue. #auspol #Trump #NobelPrize
Trump’s war for peace: How the Nobel became his battlefield
Donald Trump’s pursuit of the Nobel Peace Prize has been one of the most grotesque spectacles of the modern era – a man trying to win a peace prize by promoting war.

DIARY OF A YOUNG DOCTOR
Notes from the genocide in Gaza

Ezideen Shehab

Pull quite:

‘I am no longer a doctor. I am a witness. To the slow murder of dignity. To a land where medicine is a cruel joke and survival is a sin.' Pull quote:

‘How did we come to this?
How did we become a people the world no longer believes are fully human?
Is it because our blood is too cheap? Or is it because the world has learned to look, and then to look away? If so, then it is not we who have lost our humanity. It is you.’

From Diary of a Young Doctor by Ezzideen Shehab 'Written under siege and in the shadow of unrelenting violence, Dr Ezzideen Shehab's words carry both the clinical precision of a doctor and the searing intimacy of a witness.
These are writings of unbearable clarity, carved out of catastrophe, that will not allow the world to look away?’
Sara M Saleh 'What a privilege to read these words from a brave and compassionate witness to Israel's genocide in Gaza.
When language is often insufficient to describe the daily horrors, Dr Shehab conjures a world of grief, resistance and unimaginable resilience. Read this book.’

Damn, I guess the NYT will have more resources to dedicate to jeopardising the lives of trans people and migrants now. 🤔

Well, after smashing the work backlog for the past week, I'm fatigue-lamed and bed-fated. At least I am able to schedule a good day or two in bed for recovery. It's a good feeling to have locked in and had wins, but damn I burned down the candle these past 7 days.

Give it a go, and reward yourself for the efforts made. If you pin yourself to the outcome, you're just deferring the deserved gratification that needs to be at the heart of creativity. Satisfaction in the process 👊
diaja.bsky.social
That's completely unacceptable. Especially today with instantaneous banking transactions. I get that payroll has its process, but my pay being nearly a week late means that my bills are going to be late and medical appointments deferred. "Fuck you, give my money", is the correct response here.

You're not against "THE GOOD", though are you Greg!!?? /s

Gosh this advert feels useless. I wonder if it will be received the same way that "You wouldn't steal a car!" was.

Unjustifiable cruelty as public policy. 🤬
diaja.bsky.social
This is going to be a massive waste of money and time that won't address the problem that it's ostensibly intended to solve. This is extremely frustrating.

The Xbench opposes the Government’s attempt to weaken Freedom of Information laws.

Good to see the Opposition recognise these deep flaws - the bill should not pass.

We need more transparency, not less & I'll keep fighting for your right to know.

This is going to be a major shift in the political economy of news media. How it plays out, is resisted and embraced, is going to change how populations perceive and understand their world in subtle but critical ways. One day after another. @technihilism.bsky.social

Completely disgraceful. I was witness to some appalling behaviour and management in the past, but nothing during that time came close the levels of fraud and dishonesty that's been demonstrated over the past several years. Astounding.

One Battle After Another has such an impressive pacing and concise narrative movement. The score, camera movement and performances create an anxious forward momentum that is both stressful and enjoyable. It is funny and tragic in equal measures. Definitely one of the best films of the year.

This story is utterly balmy.

The Aust Parliament Sports Club (the one that ditched David Pocock) is now formally registered as a lobby group👇🏽

Anthony Albanese is the President of the Aust Parliament Sports Club.

That means the Prime Minister of Australia is currently the president of a lobby group.

Just utterly unbelievable.

I saw this comment on reddit and it sums it up pretty damn well:
The image is of a comment on a reddit thread concerning Bill Burr's decision to cancel a live recording of his podcast. The comment reads: "Let me just say...going to do comedy in Saudi Arabia is kind of fine. I can see the argument to be made for having an exchange of ideas and culture.

The problem is that he was paid to put on a show for the royal dictator whose recent forays with American culture involved his men using a bonesaw and cutting apart a journalist who criticized his regime, and carrying his body out in multiple bags to be disposed of.

This would be like taking an invitation from Putin to go perform comedy at the Kremlin. You aren't exchanging culture. You are being a stooge for a brutal dictator."

Censorship by any other name.
The National Press Club cancelled a speaker, Chris Hedges, who planned to address the mass killing of journalists in Gaza. The mainstream press didn’t report it.
