Learned that an anonymous outside expert on submersibles did an interview with the OceanGate Titan investigation, and they released a transcript, with all the names redacted. The first line of his first answer? "I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic."

11 Q. So how did you get yourself started into submersible
12 operations?
13
A.
Well, I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic.
When I
14
set down the path to make that film, the first thing that I did
15
was arrange to be introduced to the head of the submersible
16
program at the P.P. Shirshov Institute in Moscow, a guy named

Professor
I. I did that through a mutual friend
18
of ours, a guy named
, who is one of the preeminent
underwater cinematographers in the world. And had been on a
20
submersible expedition out to Titanic the previous year with the
21
Russians. And that was organized by a Canadian company that was
22 doing an IMAX film which was released under the title Titanica.

trying to explain the american vice president to a stranger: imagine if the antichrist was from ohio
I mean yes, there is such a concept in Christianity. It appears quite notably in the letters of Paul, for instance, where it’s a concept he *relentlessly* argues against, and in the Gospel where it’s a concept Jesus very much repeatedly scorns. So it is technically in there!

Yeah, they really should have gone all the way to Moscow. Instead they just…turned around? Cuz the guy they were marching on asked them not to?

remigrate is not a dog whistle, and is open nazi language
Remigration

Not to be confused with Return migration.
Remigration is an originally European far-right proposal of ethnic cleansing[1] via the mass deportation of non-white immigrants and their descendants, sometimes including those born in Europe, to their place of racial ancestry.[2][3] It is popular especially within the Identitarian movement.[4][5] Some proponents of remigration suggest excluding some persons with non-European background from such a mass deportation, based on a varyingly defined degree of assimilation into European culture.[6][7][8]

It really is important to note how much Bondi is on TV and how dissimilar this is from literally any other AG, R or D.
Bondi claims that cities aiding residents hurt by immigration raids is breaking the law

while 'young republicans are literal nazis' is well known to folks here, the extent of it is surprisingly not that commonly known even in media and analyst circles, let alone normal people.
a real water is wet scenario here
POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

Painting done by Rick Guidice for Ames Research Center for Pioneer 10's Jupiter slingshot.
The planet Jupiter stands center, surrounded by the fiery paints that symbolize both the stars and Jupiter. A humanoid person stands faintly behind the planet, meant as if they are 'throwing' something to indicate the slingshot of Pioneer coming in a fiery race around Jupiter and back out deeper into the solar system.

this is why the only option left is the raging hot Stove
The thing is there are no guardrails that can withstand the full force of 45% of the electorate polarized into either accepting authoritarianism or not finding it a dealbreaker. Whatever system you design, if you don’t figure out how to push that number down, your guardrails can’t meet tolerances.

Unless and until some kind of compelling legal and moral argument is presented as to why this is a legitimate use of deadly force, this is just…mass murder.
The issue is that Joe Biden’s core instincts on most issues were solidly locked at where they were in ~1970, which was good for some issues (unions, Russia) and bad for others (Israel, obviously)

Often think about Obama mocking Romney at the third debate as a paranoid Reaganite relic for correctly identifying Fascist Russia as an ascendant threat because it would distract from the far more important task of extralegally blowing up random al-Qaeda No. 12s in Pakistan and weddings in Yemen

"Residents in Chicago and Portland are living in a police state where masked armed forces kidnap who they want to kidnap, where they have to listen to public officials routinely lie about what is happening in their neighborhoods." donmoynihan.substack.com/p/purge-merg...
Federal Secret Police and plainclothes ICE agents kidnap multiple people from a neighborhood in Chicago. They then deploy teargas and brutally beat neighbors who come out to express their concern.

1985 concept for a Orbital Transfer Vehicle.
It used aerobraking to return payloads from GEO to LEO without a braking burn, and with its lifting body design, perhaps get a free inclination change out of it too. But, it would be dead weight in all other maneuvers.

won't anyone think of the uhhhh sales executives who will be harmed by transit-oriented development in California

Gerisch, a 46-year-old sales executive, isn’t sure whether he and his family will stay put. SB 79 would allow five-story residential buildings on his and other nearby streets, which sit within a half-mile of a Metro K Line light rail station.

“I feel like I’ve been blindsided,” he said. “A lot of us were.”

Under SB 79, developers would be permitted to build up to nine-story residential buildings adjacent to subway stops, seven stories within a quarter-mile of them and six stories within a half-mile — overriding local planning and zoning rules.

practically a requirement for this administration to be a sex pest
"30-year-old conservative lawyer and activist who is Trump’s nominee to lead the Office of Special Counsel, which deals with federal employee whistleblower complaints and discrimination" cancelled his colleague's hotel room so she would be forced to stay with him.
www.politico.com/news/2025/10...
In late July, Paul Ingrassia, the White House liaison for the Department of Homeland Security, arrived at a Ritz-Carlton in Orlando with a lower-ranking female colleague and others from their department. When the group reached the front desk, the woman learned she didn’t have a hotel room.

Ingrassia then informed her that she would be staying with him, according to five administration officials familiar with the episode. Eventually the woman discovered that Ingrassia had arranged ahead of time to have her hotel room canceled so she would have to stay with him, three of those officials said.
