Endorse. Canada should fight for the information war for the free world, even if we're the last ones standing. 🇨🇦
Trump has functionally killed America's international broadcasting apparatus.

Russia and China are making up the difference.

if we still care about democracy and liberalism abroad, countries like Canada need to step up. www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
Justin Ling: Canada needs to make its voice heard around the world. Here’s one clear way to do that.
To create stronger connections internationally, Canada can’t rely on the United States. We need to use our own soft diplomacy tools

I know it’s the most obvious thing in the world but it’s really sad that so many people have absolutely no desires or dreams in life except to accumulate money and our entire world is becoming a fucking pit because of it
And it’s back to Ottawa we go. After almost three weeks of warm temperatures and life on the street, it’s going to be a real shock to go back to empty streets and cold temperatures.

I live #CarFree by choice. I don't believe a car should be a requirement to live well in a suburb. It doesn't stop me from advocating for road safety for all to travel to #PlacesForPeople. I want a city without crumbling infrastructure or commuter gridlock. #OttPoli
I like my car, always have and need it for much of my work; that doesn’t stop me from advocating for better transit, better #PlacesForPeople and cycling spaces and wishing/hoping that my city was less car dependent and better at commuting #CarFree
PS: The last time I saw him in person was in late 2011, in a VIPS in Madrid. We hadn’t spoken since about 2005. He looked me straight in the eye and walked past me, probably because I’d lost a ton of weight and looked pretty different.

Wherever he is now, I hope he’s at peace.
He loved to throw dinner parties and was an ace at it, having done catering to make ends meet in LA.

He had a very strong sense of right/wrong that bubbled over at times, but showed how strong his moral fibre was.

He was hungry to learn.

He wasn’t loved as much as he could love at times.

My old friend Jimmy Shaw passed away yesterday at the age of 59. The Spanish press is talking about his acting career, but there were five years when he was a buddy and a co-conspirator, and those stories aren’t showing up anywhere. (1/2)

Teenage boys get a lot of bad press, so it’s nice to see them just be the kids they are.
…the remaining four just started digging and laughing. No flinging sand, no whistling at girls, just the collective play of doing something fun together.

They’re filling it in now, but they got down a good metre or so before they stopped for lunch.

It was lovely to watch.
Last day on the beach in Andalucía, and I just witnessed the sweetest thing…

A group of five teenaged German guys, with surfboards and boogie boards, were sitting around talking. Then one started digging a hole. And another one started helping him. One went off to surf, and then…
Woodroffe.
Second runner-up: Gloucester or Orleans. Especially the Place d’Orleans mall, which is pronounced “plass door leans” in a weird reversal of English and French.
What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

For every €1 provided through a Basic Income For Artists pilot program in Ireland, the government got €1.46 back. So it’s being made permanent.

Over and over we see it. It saves public money to provide public housing. And it makes public money to provide basic income.

We can’t afford to NOT do it.
Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Could be worse.
Could be a Smaug alert.

I’ll see myself out…
Made it to the beach!

This is exactly what I tell people who ask me why I'm so anti-AI. Especially when it comes to things from the realms of art (writing, drawing/painting, music, etc), simply because I want to see and experience authentic human emotion and the process that goes into it. AI is not capable of this.

I’m a proud Canadian, so some will say this is “none of my business” (they’re wrong), but the entire world badly needs a hell of a lot better USA than this.
