Not sure who will win out in the New York mayoralty, but I'm hearing some *very* confident noises from Susan Hall's team.

Let’s take a look at the whole “there are too many black people on TV” thing, shall we?

After Pochin claimed Black people in TV adverts “made her mad”, all her supporters tried to use 👇🏼 as their excuse for why she was somehow justified in her overt racism.

Spoiler - she isn’t! 🤨

This is the kind of trivia I live for.

Starvation as a weapon of war is deeply troubling. Starvation as a policy of domestic politics is a dystopian nightmare.
The USDA now threatening grocery stores who offer discounts to SNAP recipients.

People are going hungry. Their benefits were illegally cut off leaving them to starve.

40% of SNAP households have children.

If grocery stores & local business want to step up to help… let them.
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

Funny how when people talk about ‘reforming’ the ECHR, they always mean removing rights from people they don’t like.

I keep seeing supposedly progressive podcasts saying “the problem is that people feel like they just can’t talk about these issues” while these issues are frequently the *only* thing that people are talking about 😩
Am struggling with the idea that people like me somehow don't understand the legitimate concerns of people who attended the Tommy Robinson march. I literally had National Front fliers through my letterbox in my childhood in Greater London and I went to school and university with actual fascists.

We should do the same for progressive parties in the UK.

Not as extreme here but the lack of any interest in reforming media or social media is... notable
I think every Democrat should be shown this chart and required to explain why any policy solution would convince voters in this environment, and if they cannot, give three steps to fix the media environment, and if they cannot, be forced to resign their seat
Think I’d be happy too. It must be worth thousands.

The sheer greasy desperation from these bastards that any violent crime is committed by an immigrant so they can continue their grift. Even when they know it isn't true. Foul.
Matt Goodwin attributes a crime that he now knows appears to have been committed by people born in Britain in the early 1990s to "mass uncontrolled immigration"

it's rather telling how people react to the awful stabbing incident on the LNER train

your usual, braindead suspects are going all-in on racism

everyone else (including myself) is at awe of the professionalism and conduct of the train staff and signallers

Ok: I understand, though of course don’t agree with, a politics of not wanting to help other people. I struggle much more with a politics of actively wanting to harm them.

Other countries are not coming to save scientific research & academia. Maybe to poach a few high-profile scholars. But no one is going to do things at scale to replace 🇺🇸, & most every other rich country is also doing educational austerity.

We are in an era of deadweight loss - this stuff just won't happen. Even a country committed to filling the gap cannot possibly do it by an order of magnitude overnight - they would need to do something like double every year for a decade. And we'd need a lot of countries to do the same.
The US funds the bulk of biomedical research globally by far. It's not like other countries can simply take up the slack. The more likely: people leave research, new people don't become researchers. There is no happy ending. www.pbs.org/newshour/sho...
