NEW — I dug into the story of ICE abducting a 13-year-old boy in Massachusetts and moving him 500 miles across state lines without notifying his mother, local cop's complicity, and how the federal government's justification for such cruelty is already falling apart:

ICE took a 13-year-old they said had a gun. Local cops say he didn’t.

Now he's detained 500 miles away from his Massachusetts home.

I’ll say this, being Jewish but passing WASP is one of the easiest ways to see behind the curtain. People show you their true colors when they think you’re playing for their team.

I was a Young Republican for a brief time in the 1980s (for real). I promise you they talked like this back then. They didn’t know I was Jewish, so the Holocaust jokes flowed freely. It all helped radicalize me against the right.

I sort of think constant activity is overrated on the short-form video end. The switch flip for me was realizing that I had lost people’s trust by posting too much “me” content (promo mainly) made quickly, and so I have been putting generally more effort into those vids. It’s a weird dynamic

The hard part is that, you know, promo is about building trust more than anything, and the way to build enough trust to promote your work is to be active in a community, which takes time and steadiness. Prob why BSky seeks better, right? You’re maybe more active here than elsewhere? Idk my two cents

I think you’ve gotta crosspost with a variety of media types and approaches. Some click on BSky, someclick on TT, some on IG, and even separate ones on FB. I also think FB Groups can have better traction for promo if you’re smart about it. Oh, also it seems that Reddit can help too.

Serious question: how does one network in this time and age? Social media engagement is at an all time low (Bluesky slightly better than the rest, sometimes). Going to US cons is out of question for me right now, UK cons don’t get as much editorial/publisher presence. It’s been a struggle this year.

About a month ago, the Trump administration got rid of the de minimis exemption, whereby packages valued under $800 could slide in without import duties. Now there's a backlog as the government can't process all of this paperwork, leading to UPS just destroying packages
