The @chicago.suntimes.com photographer who risked their personal health and safety to take this photograph is Anthony Vazquez. Please credit photographers and media outlets. In this age of misinformation, a photo with no context could be anything at all.

Unless and until some kind of compelling legal and moral argument is presented as to why this is a legitimate use of deadly force, this is just…mass murder.

CTA taking their next big step in the smart streets pilot. Up until now, fines had mainly been coming from just 4 cameras that I believe are tied to Dept of Finance vehicles.

Greg Bovino, Kristi Noem, and DHS need to answer for their unchecked attacks on Chicago residents.

ICE is an out-of-control danger to our peaceful communities.

The images from the Sun-Times today speak for themselves.

Can confirm. Spouse works in Cicero and she noted this morning how eerily uncongested Cermak was today. ICE is very intentionally destroying the livelihoods of Latino/a communities.

To a somewhat lesser extent, the same is true of several other areas. Cicero has seen heavy ICE activity similar to Sunday in Rogers Park about twice a week lately. Same for the southeast side, same for southwest suburbs like Burbank and Bridgeview, same for Hammond and Whiting across the border.

I'm in BotY, Brighton Park, Gage Park, or Englewood a couple times a week. ICE and CBP have been so ever-present there that I have run into multi-vehicle phalanxes of masked agents completely at random on two different occasions in the last three weeks. 47th is a ghost town compared to spring.

Videos taken by eye witnesses of federal agent encounters with immigrants in Chicago and elsewhere have shown increasingly tense incidents. Immigrant advocates and observers say they're indicative of a larger trend of aggression among federal immigration officers.

Federal Secret Police and plainclothes ICE agents kidnap multiple people from a neighborhood in Chicago. They then deploy teargas and brutally beat neighbors who come out to express their concern.

Hmm, so it feels like they're squeezing the tourist/visitor passes to the benefit of the commuter/one-off rider fares

One thing I want you to take from videos like this is the absolute cacophony of whistles and screams of "GET THE FUCK OUT OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD" from people in the streets and in buildings. And more and more people are at that point every day.

A bus is only just as efficient up to a certain ridership

That said, street-running rail with its own dedicated lanes (in Minneapolis, etc) has been quite successful, and I think would be great on western/Ashland/Cicero/etc

The conventions of political reporting today are not well equipped to handle this concerted use of pretexts for instrumental purposes and the bottomless bad faith they employ. Grasping the industrial-scale deception at the core of MAGA politics is essential. 6/
