1000 more Gore votes in Florida in 2000 and we’d have got that timeline.
In an only slightly better timeline, we would be in touching distance, globally, of a full transition to renewable energy.
"China can produce almost a terawatt of renewable-energy capacity in a year. That is enough to supply as much energy as more than 300 big nuclear-power plants."

Moms for Liberty—the group
that likes to ban books—suffered a huge loss on Tuesday.

All 31 candidates they had running for school board elections lost.

Turns out people don’t like their freedoms taken away.

Crucial thing to watch: The Dem blowout wins suggest it'll be way more risky for GOPers to gerrymander, because the GOP safer seats may become more vulnerable than expected. Rs in those seats will now be very nervous.

Exchange on this w/Dem operative Jessica Post:

The moves continued a pattern of Trump, a Republican, using his second presidency to bestow unlikely pardons on political allies, prominent public figures and others convicted of defrauding the public.

Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"

Adam and I team up to talk about how to break into the echo chamber that is the far-right media ecosystem & who Adam thinks might be the heir-apparent to the Charlie Kirk empire.

Yahhhhhhh there was a real lack of any actual help for employees offered during this meeting. Just reassurances that we will get paid when the shutdown ends but absolutely no thoughts or suggestions on how to assist us in the meantime. Like if we can’t afford gas what do you suggest we do? 😒😒😒😒

The Senate is working through the weekend to find a way out of the shutdown. The House would rather keep blocking a new Democratic member and the Epstein files.
Speaker Johnson is officially keeping the House in recess again next week. This will be the eighth consecutive week the House has been out of session. The chamber hasn't met since Sept. 19. Adelita Grijalva, who was elected on Sept. 23, has not been sworn in.

Salk's act was altruism. A better example is WWI: the US nationalized Marconi's patents and assigned to GE to ensure unified military communications. This led to the NBC networks monopoly that was later broken up to restore competition. Socialism is an essential part of healthy government.
