Oh for fuck’s sake. My brain skipped over the key “2016” info and went straight to the earlier animated film, do not pass go, do not pause to reread and maybe consider going the fuck to sleepy self?
Someone in a decision making capacity watched it a *lot* as a kid, I’m guessing.
If there were witnesses, I don’t think said person would even get that far. Not from violence but from the collective power of 2 or more simultaneous hard stares.
If you want to be somebody, if you want to go somewhere…
Then the answer is Sister Act 2, which is also a good example of a sequel being even better than the original and a film with a 10/10 soundtrack. And eminently quotable if you’re the right age group.
Both of those are excellent.
They were also the first place I saw the stuff about Spacey, also years before it made more mainstream news. Specifically they had intel about his tenure at the old vic, I think.

This whole entire thread.
Whenever I meet a "feminist" who wants to abolish sex work, I instantly know I'm talking with an unserious person who is not willing to do the work.

Let's imagine, for the sake of the argument, that they were right and all sex workers were trafficking victims who wanted to leave sex work. 🧵
Knowing our luck, it’d be directed by Michael Bay
See, we are WAY responsible with money after all
That is at least a lot safer than flinging avocados so I guess that’s a form of progress?
“Why aren’t you buying diamonds and houses but you keep buying avo toast and coffee?” they demanded of us. And now gen z aren’t even allowed a fucking croissant (and with no mention of why the croissant is so fucking expensive in the first place)
This thread was quite the journey
Re Take 2 this week, I’ve discovered a way to check if I’m more film geek or literature student: when you say “Hedda”, my brain says “Hopper” first and “Gabler” second.
Starting to feel like we’re in an episode of Black Mirror but with Charlie Brooker doing a Screenwipe dissection of it at the same time.

I believe people who misuse Tolkien to advance fascism should have a brief but life-changing encounter with World War II–era Christopher Lee

My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings. Look on my works and let me know if you have any questions! 🤗
That’s not stupid, it’s useful intel. Maybe not the *most* useful but still.

The BFI are doing a Richard Burton season in December. It’s true, Theo… Christmas is a time for miracles.

Designer: all right Mr. Del Toro here’s those Frankenstein’s monster designs, real sexy just like you asked for.
Del Toro: (nodding) this is exactly as sexy as I asked for.
That episode helped me get through a bunch of cleaning tasks I really didn’t want to do
And at the same time the absolute greatest compliment I can give the film is that I hated Oscar Isaac’s Victor from the first and the more I got to know him I absolutely fucking hated him by the end.
Ok, so for real, I think if I’d seen the GdT Frankenstein as my 18 year old self, it would absolutely become a cornerstone of my entire life and personality. He simply cannot just give us a long-haired rock star aesthetic Creature and expect anything else.
