I think this is why I enjoy listening to anime podcasts as I think that format lends itself the most to more long form discussion of shows as a whole piece of work versus just talking about one episode at a time or people talking about the show in chunks

Nowadays it feels like you only see a full season/show review if it's something that was overlooked in past seasons or a new physical release but the latter feels like we see happen less nowadays with not every modern simulcast show getting physical releases these days.

One thing I miss with the rise of the simulcast model we don't see as much are full series/season reviews as I like the more retrospective approach of being able to look back at a show as a whole piece of work as opposed to the more snapshot approach of daily streaming reviews.

Every anime fan should have at least one Blu-ray player. 4K UHD Blu-ray if you can swing it, consoles and PC’s with disc drives count, just get something that will playback discs. If you’re younger and grew up on streaming, please just listen to old people on this one thing: Get a Blu-ray player.
