thinking about how buckwheat evolved from an inedible weed that grew alongside wheat, but humans rooted them because they wanted wheat, so they slowly got better at disguising themselves as wheat, and the things that made them wheatlike also made them edible, and now we have buckwheat

I can't recommend Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection enough, really. Dozens of puzzle types, each with their own customizable options, and it's available on the web via java or on mobile as an app. And it's truly free, with NO ads and NO in-app purchases. Just puzzles for the sake of puzzles

I'm addicted to a puzzle in Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection.

Loopy has two rules:
1. Each numbered cell has that many walls.
2. Walls must form one unbroken loop.
Sounds TOO simple. But then you look at board options. Great Hexagonal Tiling? And oh wow. It really tickles my brain to solve

I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Taqwa. Taqwa has one of the hardest stories of any person I’ve shared. The building where she was staying with her family, including her six kids was bombed and she was the only survivor. She is now pregnant again and needs help.

one thing you gotta know about brassica is it LOVES to get eaten. it will adapt its forms so wildly to get other things to eat it. somehow this is a successful evolutionary strategy

there are much easier puzzle types in the collection than this one, to be fair, and there are a bevy of options to adjust difficulty exactly how you like. I also am a big fan of Signpost, which is simple but always stays enjoyable: Each square has an arrow pointing to the next in sequence, that's it
