“Every $1300 New York invested in new bike-lanes in 2015 provided benefits equivalent to 1 added year of life at full health over the lifetime of all city residents.”

Among many other benefits, bike-lanes are a really smart public health investment. #CityMakingMath

This is such an important study that I sent it on to my city's Engineering team, who are already all-in on bikes and Vision Zero.

Sharrows are ONLY good when they signify a truly shared street, where bikes and cars go at roughly the same speed. CROW and NACTO have good examples of both.
Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.

ALL ROAD USERS.

And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all.

For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them.

Another great #TeslaTakedown right now in Boston. Best chant so far: “We don’t want your Nazi cars, take a one-way trip to Mars!”

Need to rebrand bike lanes as mobility lanes. Especially in areas like Charles street in beacon hill where locals and tourists are fighting for foot space amongst strollers on the bumpy brick sidewalks.
These are the bike lanes that @edflynnforboston.bsky.social wants to rip out. Meet Antonia Sanchez who relies on these new lanes to move safely in her neighborhood using her mobility scooter.

What you can’t see are the three children riding bikes to my right side.

What you can feel is this drivers impatience with having to drive responsibly.

Do drivers not realize that this behavior puts undue stress on those outside of vehicles?

Give the kids a break, let ‘em ride their bikes.

watching an empire fall in real time as their physical seat of power is turned into a used car lot
Disturbing trend. This is not caused by adding bike lanes in Boston.

Went down to Mass Av today to see where @mayorwu.boston.gov is having bike lane infrastructure removed and met Fernando who bike commutes year round and relies on the new Mass Av bike lane in Dot to keep him safe

You can see how the flexposts are no longer installed behind him 😳

In many ways it's fitting that the showdown between monarchy and democracy ends up being over NYC congestion pricing.

Cities are where the power of kings were first challenged, and few things are more fundamental to government than control of public space.

The cameras are staying on!
