Papa Smurf wears a Phrygian cap, most often associated with the French Revolution, indicating Smurf Village had a monarchy it has since overthrown. This makes Papa Smurf, de facto head of state post-revolution, akin to Robespierre. In this essay I will —
An image of Papa Smurf, a small blue man with a white beard. He’s wearing red trousers that lead into shoes and a red cap that slouches forward.

When I say political parties need to be focused on creating jobs, these are the jobs I mean specifically

Job occupations, from an 1881 census. Every one of these sounds like something a sorely provoked Captain Haddock would should at someone in times of heavy stress.

As we head towards Halloween, I got to thinking that Gorebridge is well named to be Scotland's horror capital. I went to check it out...

OTD, 1825, the Scotsman identifies the real problem with the new steam railways: nomenclature.
Newspaper para complaining that "the word 'loco-motive machine' is neither convenient, appropriate, nor distinctive... Automotive is a barbarous combination of Greek and Latin. Autokulion (self-rolling) has too learned a sound for familiar use."

After a long pause, I've just done another England Covid & NHS update as we head into the autumn/winter season.

TLDR: we're in a significant Covid wave now, the NHS is stretched, get boosted if you're eligible.

Exactly. There has been zero transparency about why the cuts are/have become necessary and a complete dereliction of (legal) duty as regards informing campus unions.

Thanks #BBC for more neglectful reporting: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article.... Not only does it give the last word to a false, unchallenged statement by UoE's Principal, it doesn't include any of the interview provided ostensibly for the same article by @ucuedinburgh.bsky.social President Sophia Woodman.

As someone who was recently prevented from boarding a flight from Chicago to the UK - a situation that took 3.5 weeks to sort, during which I nearly ran out of vital cancer medication - this frightens me. I have family in the US, but I'm increasingly hesitant to return...

Be careful out there.

“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’
