It’s going to work with people loudly ordering their computers to do stuff in those spaces like no one else is there
He could start tomorrow if he wanted
Come into my mentions with some VMT stuff, I dare you.
Do 40,000 people die on transit each year? Fucking no
A reminder to everyone that you can pontificate on the importance of transit keeping minimum crime in its spaces, but transit crime *IS* at a minimum already, and is favorably comparable to *roadway crimes*, and being visibly poor is not a crime.

SHut up bitch
Some dismiss concerns about subway crime as baseless, the result of insufficiently hardened attitudes toward life in the “big city," Charles Fain Lehman writes. But if policy makers ignore people’s fears, they'll miss a chance to make transit better:
The Other Reason Americans Don’t Use Mass Transit
People will take buses and trains only if they feel safe while riding them.

Imagine your doctor is Eric Adams
Mayor Adams says that once he leaves office he plans to "go back to school" and get a doctorate. He says he also plans to write a book and work on "a documentary."

He says the job offers he's fielding at least in part relate to "things in other countries."
He’s getting a PhD in visiting Albania
This is why we uh, need the National Guard to, uh, chase down leftists and immigrants and, uh, restore order on the streets because, uh, city’s ruined
While several crime categories have dropped over Mayor Adams' years in office, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch notes domestic violence incidents are up 40%+ since 2020.

She's noting this at a presser with Adams and Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg about a new DV unit NYPD's launching.

Yeah, nonzero chance CBS ends up getting sued into oblivion in the next few years.
NEWS: CBS News head of standards Claudia Milne has quit. It was announced in the network’s 9 am editorial meeting. Bari Weiss was not on the call. According to a source, Milne gave thanks but did not say why she’s leaving the network.

Roberts has always felt that the suggestion that white people might discriminate on the basis of race is a profound moral injustice, much greater than black people being denied the right to vote bsky.app/profile/jayw...
Everything about John Roberts's approach to the Voting Rights Act makes sense when you remember that John Roberts has has always been hostile to the Voting Rights Act, never believed it was appropriate, and has spent most of his 45-year legal career working to hollow it out.
One of the Biggest Cases of the Supreme Court’s Term Is John Roberts’ Decadeslong Pet Project
If there’s one thing the Roberts court has been consistent on, it’s this.

The Phil Murphys and Josh Gottheimers of the world who praised Trump when he tried to cancel congestion pricing were making a fool's bet that he was only doing it because he hated the idea of tolling drivers like they did and not because he hated a place that didn't vote for him.
It is, and the news won't say so
the president using the office to punish americans that didnt vote for him should really be one of the biggest scandals in americas history
Trump is upfront in saying he will use the shutdown to punish Democrats, and here are the receipts. About $27.2 billion cut from Dem districts compared to about $0.7 billion in GOP districts.
We all complain about the media, but need this type of in-depth journalism.

Moments after they shot his 19-year-old daughter, Diana, San Jose police rushed Jim Showman to an interrogation room, isolated him from his ex-wife, and questioned him for 27 minutes before revealing they'd killed her.

California has finally banned the practice.
California cops can no longer conceal police killings while interrogating loved ones for dirt
A Reveal investigation helped spark a crackdown on a disturbing, widespread practice.

I'm sorry to be snide about things that are actually meaningful and sad, but please never listen to any of these people who are keyboard jockeys and who think "killing an unarmed black teenager is deserved" but "an adult male worshipping Hitler is just a mistake of youth". Even the Vice President.
Most polling is conducted for the benefit of campaign strategists - one of many tools in a campaign strategy toolbelt. It hardly gets to the bottom of figuring out if well-informed citizens are satisfied with the accurate-and-complete results of fair and reasonable policies. It’s often news junk
Beyond this, I don’t think this is helpful information for governing because it’s never asking the right questions for driving political progress & it’s heavily tainted by sensationalism in for-profit media & propagandistic news programming.

“I’m unhappy with government” is what people are taught
