Right now there's some crappy game studio in Europe creating White House Destruction Simulator 2025
i know it sucks but it must feel a little fun to be that guy with the backhoe destroying the white house. that’s like the final boss of operating heavy machinery
Detectives patrolling outside the proctology departments of all local hospitals
Seems as reasonable a theory as any
Thank you all for coming out! I'd like to perform my new track titled 'French Fries For Lunch', it goes a little something like this: (hum of air fryer for 24 minutes)
I like headlines like this because they really have no idea. They may be melted down, maybe they won't be. Maybe they'll be put on a plane and flown somewhere. Maybe there's a guy pissing on them. I am a journalist!

I’ve stopped linking my self-worth to my productivity and started linking it to how many mini Hostess donuts I can fit in my mouth at the same time and honestly I’ve never been happier.
Your worth isn't linked to your productivity.

Just reminding others, because sometimes, I forget, too.

You have to be willing to walk away from these guys if they let you down, just as a matter of basic self respect. It's not a fandom. You're hiring them to do a job or not.
I liked the Platner ads too but I think there's a difference between "guy who had some bad reddit posts a decade ago" and "ex-Blackwater merc who still has a Nazi tattoo." Sucks bigtime that he's the only one taking positions and talking policy I like, but them's the breaks!

ive crunched the numbers, and its not looking good. theyre pretty much ruined by all the crunching, i owe you new numbers
I think this is kind of a French cultural thing... just cram in ideas and don't worry about how they interact or if they really make much sense. Tons of French media like this, games, movies, etc.
Haha it's great, these kids fall into an alternative universe where the sun is a machine breaking down and they get into a living ship and travel the "stratas", each one a different historical/mythical setting, to try to find a way to fix it. Chased by singing comic-relief pirates in fish-hovercraft
Ancient civilizations were guided by Aliens? Cities of Gold. Your starship is alive? Spartakus. Freezing people in cryo statis? Cities of Gold. Moving to a different location moves you to a different time period? The 'Stratas' in Spartakus. Etc. The cartoons sucked but were jam-packed with concepts
I used to joke that every science fiction idea came from two French cartoons from France that Nickelodeon aired before they had the budget to produce their own cartoons: Seven Cities of Gold, and Spartakus and the Sun Beneath The Sea

The internet is great for looking up half-remembered shows and proving to yourself that they weren’t just a weird dream.

Was there really a cartoon about Punky Brewster hanging out with a raccoon with a goatee from another dimension? Apparently so!

Back when every single US city had its own children's programming, and you went off to college and started to talk to people and were like "haha this is just like when Winky the Clown says 'hamburder steaks?' to Arfy the Dog" they'd look at you like you were crazy, but it was normal then I suppose

NFTs are amazing because you apparently “own” them but the AWS outtage yesterday took out everyones apes lol
Sure NOW there's a video of even the most obscure failed cartoon on YouTube uploaded by someone with a handle like "Retro Dreams 1982", but for DECADES there was nothing. You half-remembered the Turbo Teen and everybody thought you were crazy
I bet Kids These Days don't realize the shockingly long time after stuff like instant messages, social networks, etc. were on the internet but before you could go to a search engine and type "1980s cartoon where kid turns into a red car" and get any meaningful results
I AM NOT CRAZY both 1999: Texas Israeli War and Turbo Teen were REAL THE WHOLE TIME!!!
Another thing I used to commonly half-remember was a cartoon show in which a guy turned into a car, and for YEARS and YEARS I'd tell people about this show and they thought I was crazy and then finally I found evidence that it existed and was called Turbo Teen: www.youtube.com/watch?v=j18e...

When I was a little kid I read this book, and sometimes I still look up the cover and Wikipedia page to convince myself it was a real book and not just some weird half-remembered fever-dream: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tex...

It's kind of funny that back in the 80s when pop culture was OBSESSED with billionaires-- Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, every sitcom having a billionaire in it even the ones where it made no sense (like the latter seasons of Cheers)-- the gap between rich and poor was much less than it is now
