Why are there so few (none?) news stories about individual ICE agents themselves? Who they are, what motivates them, any moral dilemmas they face? Why aren’t protesters trying to get some to speak out?

Falling inflation and rising profits traditionally meant more hiring and in some (not all) sectors, higher salaries and better benefits, but companies that would normally compete with each other for talent seemed to all just say "Fuck it, let them suffer."

Yes, by all economic indicators, the economy was good. The great resignation was evidence of this but the business class hated that working people had choices and consciously chose to start laying people off and raising prices, because 1. They wanted to demoralize workers 2. They thought a gop

Today in Portland, a fed shooting pepper balls from the roof of the ICE facility was so eager to aim for people’s heads, that after shooting one photographer in the head and another in the upper arm, they accidentally shot a DHS agent in the head. This photo shows the moment of impact;

One of the more sadly realistic moments in the show “Mo” is when he confronts one of the Customs & Immigrations guards who has been tormenting him & the guy indignantly defends himself by saying he has 2 special needs kids, a leaky house, etc etc.

People will do terrible things just because they think other people think it's fine to do them. I'm reading Ordinary Men (Christopher Browning) and even when men were disturbed by their orders, and there were no consequences for not participating, very few exempted themselves.

My students nearing graduation are getting ads for 50k signing bonuses and student loan forgiveness.
My students, like the vast majority of college kids in the US are not Ivy League but work 2-3 & take out big loans for college.

I know, but it's depressing. What's worse is if you have kids and joining ICE isthe only way you're aware of to get them good shoes and health care. Like I would do it under those circumstances.
