“The 3.5% rule is a concept in political science that states that when 3.5% of the population of a country protest nonviolently against a government, that government is likely to fall from power.”

If you can get to a No Kings rally this Saturday, please do.

I’m quite enjoying Night Owls by A.R. Vishny so far. YA urban fantasy centred around Yiddish theatre. Cozy and sapphic and owl-vampires.

COMING TO YOU THIS MISCHIEF NIGHT (OCT 30)

THE MOST HOLY DAY OF THE TRANSSEXUAL CALENDAR

<WE WILL NEVER EVER DIE>
<WE WILL NEVER EVER FORGIVE THEM>
Cover for Nora Hikari's second poetry collection, The Most Holy Day Of The Transsexual Calendar. It features a young trans woman tied up and blindfolded, standing ominously in front of a mausoleum, which is overgrown with plantlife.

still really proud of this piece - I wrote it before the theft software we've been falsely calling "A.I." became ubiquitous, but I think it still outlines all the ways these ghoulish processes are an affront to the dignity of the living and the dead.

New from me @thenation.com: the farce at Sharm El-Sheikh displays the delusion that led to October 7 and the genocide Israel pursued after it — that the U.S. regional coalition can pursue normalization over the heads of the Palestinians, who are supposed to accept permanent subjugation.
Sharm El-Sheikh Shows That the US Has Learned Nothing From Gaza
Palestinans are expected to accept the same deal that led to October 7: permanent subjugation under the guise of “prosperity.”

A final week's worth of diary comics are up on my patreon! patreon.com/mgillman
And for anybody with a trifoliate orange growing in their hedge: 1:4 ratio of juice to water (this'll use up a lot of fruit), sweetened with honey to taste, and optionally with a small pinch of salt if you're into that
A three panel black and white comic titled "10/11/25 -- Residency Work Sharing". Panel 1: Mel addresses a crowd, pointing at a jar in the back of the room. Mel says "Before I read my comics -- I made citrus-ale with trifoliate oranges, Bunny Mellon's "bitter" ornamentals, which now are growing invasively in the woods." Panel 2: Mel continues, "While drinking it, we can think about how most edible wild plants were at some point shaped by indigenous agricultural science somewhere. So even "ornamentals" can have good uses, if we learn to meet them where they are." Panel 3, labeled "Afterward" -- a man in a baseball cap tells Mel "I liked it! It tastes like Tang."

The doctors listed here performed my potentially septic D&C, my difficult-to-schedule HSG procedure, my emergency fetal monitoring, and my high risk C-section. Their work is critical to the lives of folks seeking reproductive care and we are in trouble that it has come to this.

This month's OJST comic by me is up for your viewing pleasure. I want to share my love of T-Gel and how it’s been the perfect way for me to be on HRT and how grateful I am that I don’t have to use needles!
#Webcomic #Art #OJST
To A T-Gel Comic by Jey Pawlik, done in cool minty green tones with heavy blacks and black linework. Jey is a nonbinary person who uses they/them pronouns, has big rectangular glasses, short cropped hair with a few greys. They wear simple clothes like graphic tees and jeans throughout the comic. Narration: I hemmed and hawed about going on HRT* for so long in my 20s. A younger Jey ponders and says “Maybe I could try it? A bit more facial hair and a lower voice sounds real nice. Note: Hormone replacement therapy Narration: At the time, the only option that was available to me was injections at a full dose. A needle is shown front and center. Narration: I chickened out. Jey sprint away telling themself “Nope! I don’t think T is for me actually!!” Narration: Years later, I watched a friend transition using T-GEL. Jey’s friend, who’s look has been changed for privacy, says “I’m starting T but it’s not injections—and it’s been pretty great!” we see Jey’s friend’s transition from pre-T to years on T with a full beard. Jey looks excited and says “OH! I didn’t know that was even an option, and you look so happy! Maybe—maybe I could go on T after all!"

…in Gaza. I don’t care so much if genocide is the appropriate term for that or not (it’s one I resisted using for a long time). I care that this is deeply wrong, and letting Israel invoke Jewish self-defence as justification in an unchallenged way implicates all of us, including in the diaspora.
bexm.bsky.social
The issue I have is that I cannot morally square Israel’s treatment of Palestinian people, both before and after October 7, with a simple right to self-defence. Self-defence cannot mean the ongoing settlement projects in the West Bank. It cannot mean the mass displacement, starvation and killing…

"You make the best of it all and hope you can help make it a little better for the gurl after you."

- Miss Major, 2023 💔
One of the things I hear with some younger trans people I know is they feel, "I'm gonna get this surgery, and I'm gonna learn that way of speaking, and I'm gonna be done." You're never done. If you're a straight, cisgender person, you're never done. Things are always happening that have the potential to change you. So all I am today is not who I'm gonna be tomorrow, because of the things that happened to me today and later tonight. People forget that. "Oh, after I transition, I'm gonna be through." Well, good luck with that. 'Cause if you're through, then it's time to leave, you know, and I don't wanna go anywhere yet.
I'm in my seventies. Why didn't I stop? Number one is community. My gurls. I've had moments of thinking about stopping, but I didn't. I made sure I would step back, reju- venate myself, and then got back out there, and that's how you make a way. Our stories are not all the same, but the destination is: to get some place where we have some peace and harmony, and we can be at ease with ourselves and the people around us. You make the best of it all and hope you can help make it a little better for the gurl after you.
