look for it in your local bookstore's "nobody asked for this" section

crazy. I’ve never been there, but a friend visited like two decades ago & his description did not paint a pretty picture. Also like: If the doodie is in the water you can still sure as hell see it, so what exactly are those Krauts up to? Ponderous, man…fuckin’ ponderous

this isn’t a “scoop,” it’s an advertisement, & I hope she & her goddamn book fall into a bottomless sewer real, real soon

honestly there was so much terrible/weird stuff in the 80s & early 90s that even if I was actually good at gaming I don’t know that I could answer this—like, shit that wasn’t actually impossible would often contain scenarios that made it impossible to proceed if you fucked up. Does Frogger ever end?

What's the worst game you finished/rolled credits on?

(games media folks, it can't be something you were assigned to review; this has to be something you subjected yourself to of your own free will)

unrelated except Heat’s been on tv lately so I keep watching it, & I’ve decided that the best/most demented Halloween costume one could choose if one were a 10-yr-old girl would be Waingro. Just ringing doorbells & intoning “The Grim Reaper is visiting with you” as you hold out your plastic pumpkin

ahhhh, the 90s

Mods are asleep, post Whoopi Goldberg as an old white businessman in The Associate (1996).

again: search for The Devil’s Spitoon. Because that’s exactly what he was referring to (& yeah, we’ve all been there; just the absolute worst way to start a morning, short of someone dying or something)

this story reminds me of how my friend Gary (who I hadn’t met at the time) apparently convinced my friend Mike to trade him (temporarily) a then-newly-released copy of Super Mario 3 for Donkey Kong 3. He still crowed about it years later—“You just shoot bug spray up a monkey’s ass!!!” Ahhh, youth…

this game definitely looks like…something

(tho actually I think her books got popular a few years later, so maybe this is more something that helped usher in an era of imitators, I dunno)

Cool, thanks. I mean obviously the aesthetic was widespread back then, but this image definitely looked like it could’ve graced a copy of Deenie or whatever

suggest searching for Dril’s old tweet re: “the Devil’s spitoon”

Gotta ask: Did this Drew person also do kids’ book covers? Because this thing has absolutely massive original-1970s Judy Blume paperback vibes (& I mean this as a compliment)

seriously though: Congrats again on all this, & I do hope I get to see it at some point. Also thinking about film-going in Bklyn gives me pleasant flashbacks to various nights of zipping from Sunset Park to BAM alone on weeknights to watch a lot of great movies; solo trip home was always very zen
