Mas isso é o mesmo que um desejo de permanecer vivo para sempre, de ser imortal? Ou será que não podemos imaginar não ser, então inventamos uma existência sem fim chamada imortalidade?

Sabendo que tudo na terra tem um fim, sabemos que a vida após a morte não pode estar na terra, então tem de estar em outro lugar: um lugar totalmente diferente, para onde os vivos não podem ir e onde nada pode mudar. Para mim, as imagens de várias vidas após a morte e dos submundos, os céus e infernos, parecem maravilhosas e poderosas, mas não posso acreditar em nenhuma delas, exceto, creio eu, em qualquer criação imaginativa como um indício, uma indicação, um sinal de algo mais além do que pode ser dito ou mostrado. A ideia de imortalidade individual, uma existência infindável do ego, é mais terrível para mim do que a ideia de abandonar o eu na morte para se juntar ao ser eterno compartilhado.

The scene features a mix of glowing red emission nebulae and shimmering blue reflection nebulae, interspersed with dark, dense dust clouds. M27 Dumbbell Nebula. Taken in bortle 2 conditions. Skies were so dark and clear and the target so bright it did its own post processing. Astro modified Nikon D5300, RC6 (1370mm at f/9), ISO 1600, 5 min exps. Total stack 3.5 hrs. #Colorado #astrophotography

Another night on comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon. I found a different location that avoided setting behind trees too quickly. This is 48 minutes of data. It is has developed a very nice tail. Equipment details in alt text. One more night and then its clouds for days. #astrophotography #comet #nightsky #nikon

Showed folks #comet #C/2025A6Lemmon through my 80x20 binos tonight (iphone eyepiece pic added) but some seemed more excited to see a string of satellites passing overhead. I do fear for our skies -a canvas for drive-thru entertainment and a “fast food” spectacle seems to be its future 😩 #astronomy 🔭
