Happy International Ghost Shark Day from the IUCN SSC Shark Specialist Group!

Most ghost sharks (chimaeras) live primarily in deep, dark waters (>200 m) around the world. There is still limited information on many of these species but it doesn't mean that they should be overlooked in conservation.

I dissected a squid this weekend!
Twas an unexpected event, but a welcome one all the same. But I was too caught up in the reality of squid dissections that I forgot to take photos.

I'm starting to volunteer at my local seacoast science center and they have a lobster tank. And apparently kids like to ask, "how can you tell which is the boy lobster and which is the girl lobster?" And we have to just pick up the lobster and show them...it's weird no matter the species
