🌙 Roberto, the great hammerhead shark, I thought his cheeky pose subtly referred to the shape and symbolism of the scorpion. Also inspired by the major arcana: The Moon. --- The Hammerhead Shark Time! 🦈✨ Aria to Roberto - “Do you know what's funny when you hug me? I like to hear your big heart beating, it calms me down.” 🌙 Roberto has a heart that is as big as his height, an excellent emotional supporter! ✨ ☀️ Tiago, the tiger shark, I thought his relaxed pose subtly referred to the form and symbolism of the crab. Also inspired by the major arcana: The Sun. --- The Tiger Shark Time! 🦈✨ Roberto to Tiago - “Dude, you came like the sun at six in the morning, bringing clarity when I needed it most!” ☀️ Tiago is the one who brings clarity when his friends spend too long in the shadows of insecurity. ✨ ⭐ Aria, the zebra shark, I thought her introspective pose subtly referred to the symbolism of the sign of the Pisces. Also inspired by the major arcana: The Star. --- The Zebra Shark Time! 🦈✨ Tiago to Aria - “Seriously, you turn any crazy dream into a fun idea that seems within reach!” ⭐ Aria, with her eccentric way, always rekindles the faith of her friends' hopes. ✨

I received a question on Tumblr about the origin of the term "The Dreamfaders", which Waiohana (the sharkfolk) used in the past to refer to humans in the story, and I was inspired to do a few things.

Its origin is attributed to an old legend about the discovery of an enigmatic fossil. 💀✨

It's all the more unfortunate that Treasure Planet didn't find its audience, as it was conceived as the beginning of a saga. A sequel was already in pre-production before being canceled a few days after the film's disastrous release.

Strawberry sharkcake 🍰🦈 #art

Over time, mystical beliefs began to surround the fossil. It was said that sleeping next to it could induce premonitory dreams.

Scholars attributed the fossil's origin to a supposed ancient people who had fled into a collective dream, fading into their own dreams, hence the name "The Dreamfaders".

A random art I made to brainstorm names for the fictional eras leading up to my Sharkfolk’s modern age.

Besides the Anthropocene extinction, the planet faced two more subsequent mass extinctions, along with the past "big five," meaning sharks would have survived eight mass extinctions in total.

Finally, the most distinct characteristic of Anthropocene fossils, whether human, animal, plant, or even mineral formations, is the presence of microplastics incorporated into their structure. Curiously, the best-preserved fossils are precisely those with the lowest concentration of microplastics.

One of the last human ruins lies in the white dunes of Kaumaha Island. It is unknown how its form was preserved, but it is believed that microorganisms consumed the artificial material and generated crystalline carbonates, leaving only the outline of an ancient city crumbling to dust.

Some important archaeological finds include traces called "technofossils", whose true meanings and functions the sharkfolk are only beginning to understand.

Currently, complete fossils of human beings are very rare; the most complete ones discovered are only two. One is crystallized in calcite at the bottom of a cave, the only one with a preserved skull, and the other was found on the seabed, which offers a glimpse of the outline of the human body.

In the contemporary era, the term fell out of use with the evolution of archaeology, which sought to better understand the mysterious civilization of the Anthropocene era.

The term Dreamfaders resurfaced in the entertainment culture of sharkfolk, in games, literature, or movie themes.
