Hi @muellershewrote.com ,

I don’t know any disabled person or person with disabilities who calls themself “differently abled”

There are several sources that will explain why “differently abled” is a problematic term.

(Also, please consider adding alt text to your posts)

Thank you.
Why You Shouldn’t Use ‘Differently Abled’ Anymore
Terms like “differently abled” do more harm than good. Here’s why you shouldn’t use them, and what to say instead.

Fun fact: we are DISABLED. It’s not a bad word. Your choice to use that abled-soothing phrase won’t make us less disabled. It’s 2025, not 1985.

There are much much earlier Isekai … all the Oz books for just a simple example.

My opinion is that Tron was a wild-out-there film … with a fascinating idea … that has contributed what it can to the zeitgeist and *already* been surpassed … repeatedly.

Matrix and the like are the successors and going back to the Tron-well doesn’t provide anything that we haven’t seen.

Feels quaint, almost cliché, to say this about a Trump action, but just for the record:

This is all illegal, the President can't simply disregard the laws passed and agencies created by Congress, and both Vought & Trump would be impeached if the Constitution or the rule of law mattered to the GOP.

Sam Altman: yeah so data centers, well you know they take a lot of power to run. And I figure, what is more powerful than Goku?

Interviewer: Goku is pretty powerful.

Altman: Goku will power our data centers.

Interviewer: yeah

Apologies for not mentions

"Over the years, HEPAP and its subpanels have convened experts from the scientific community to help determine the strategic directions for the field. DOE Office of Science and the NSF have also collaborated with DPF in mounting a series of in-depth “Snowmass” studies starting in 1982.

I am also concerned about the fact that the formation of a new committee means that it will be comprised only of people who agreed to be appointed by the Trump administration. In the past, HEPAP has been comprised of people appointed at different times, often by different presidents. 🧪⚛️

It does not really make sense to have a single committee overseeing all of the areas of science that the Department of Energy covers. DOE does everything from nuclear weapons development to searching for dark matter, and there is little to no overlap in the expertise required for these (anymore). 🧪

DOE's public statements about this say that all the ad hoc committees, including HEPAP, will be replaced by a single committee. As an STS researcher, I am compelled to point out that this overlaps with the Nazi playbook for taking over German physics. My slides about how they did that:🧪⚛️🔭

For a long time, P5 reports have guided Congressional allocations. In other words, HEPAP played a major role in establishing the national priorities for a field where the US has long been a global leader. HEPAP also supported creating global partnerships in particle physics & particle cosmology. 🧪⚛️🔭

HEPAP's responsibilities included helping to set agendas for public meetings where we would have the opportunity to ask program officers about how they were implementing stated goals. HEPAP also appointed the P5, which produced a report every ~10 yrs about particle physics science priorities. ⚛️🧪
