Absolutely one of my fave films tbh #art #horror
Illustration of the film Jacob’s ladder from 1990. The top is a panel of Jacob with his back to the fence and string spotlight on him. Second is the serene from the film on the train with the ghostly looking doctor looking out the back. The bottom is a pinkish red panel, dog tags with no name and string. The title of the film is in large bold letters.

Jumping on the "fauxflix" #TheBookBazaar25 promo bandwagon.

Since I was already working on a 'little' something for MonAct, figured I'd get flashy with it.

Good morning and happy hump day, friends! We're one day closer.... to what, you may ask?

To The Book Bazaar! A collaborative crowdfunding campaign where 25 projects are banding together to bring The Hype™

I'm aiming to bring The Dark Side of Super to life as an audio book!

#TheBookBazaar25
Promotional image for The Dark Side of Super, that makes it look like a show on Netflix. In the image, it is called Fauxflix, and features a moodboard overlaid with a Netflix-like UI.

I've done the thing! Just in time for dnd to start. Here's my Netflix mock-up for Fairy Seasons. I think I did a pretty decent job. There was a really cool template I got from @valwrites.ca. Thanks Val!
A fun graphic of a mock Netflix show for Fairy Seasons. There are related movies to the "show", such as Midsommar, The Last Unicorn, Labyrinth and more.

The main graphic for the show is the fairy that's on the cover of Fairy Seasons. One side of her is pristine and golden. The other side is rotten and stringy.

Look who had the budget for AppleTV while the rest of us have to share viewership with Stranger Things or whatever. 😂

Everyone in #BookBazaar25 is posting these "manifesting" Netflix faux screens, but hey, if I want anyone to pick me up, it's high-budget AppleTV. Not me putting me next to Foundation 😂

If this looks interesting, you should follow: TheLuckyMachine.com Maybe someday it will happen!

Almost didn't participate this week because of work, but I’m thrilled I did! Thanks, Eryn for the awesome questions.

S.C. Fisher is a friend and she could really benefit from selling more books.

Thanks for another fun week! I would like to use my spotlight this week to draw attention to a friend in need instead. A beloved member of my writing community on discord has been suffering from Crohn's disease in a catastrophic way this year. 🧵

A few years ago I wrote a book about the Ealing Studios classic portmanteau horror film Dead of Night, released in 1945. To mark its 80th anniversary, STUDIOCANAL will release a new 4K version on October 20th. If you haven’t seen this film, correct that deficit immediately.

Here we go, #HorrorWriterChat, the chance you've all been waiting for. Let's pimp our books.
And if you could share others, get them seen as well, that would be good.
Finally, I would love it if you could repost some of Matt's posts. He's having a rough time and could do with a boost.
Tanks.
there is no algorithm here, so visibility depends on engagement with others.
hit the questions, use the hashtag, share other writer’s stuff.
finally, have you got something to shout about? Now’s your chance.

Ooh I might have to say yes by default due to rarely having supernatural be part of my sci-horror. But are Rose Marie's financial woes scarier than the killer animatronics? No, but they DO complicate things & add misery.

Which is the easier route? Or the more satisfying?

Who do you scare? As a writer, it's our chance to bite back, perhaps.

Do you write horror that scares the poor, the wealthy or everyone equally?

If you're too poor to move, you've no option but to deal with your haunted house.

If you're desperate to work, you won't feel able to risk standing up to your (possibly demonic) boss.

Real-life can be scarier than the supernatural - but writing horror allows us to explore both

Desperation, 100%

My flavor of "supernatural" veers into "sillier" frights like aliens and such, so raw human desperation feels like the right way to go most of the time.

The horror I write is more likely to scare people with certain opinions rather than rich/poor.

But those folks probably won't read my books anyway.

Example: one wealthy character is a child-free black Professor who runs her own goat sanctuary & pays off folks student debt 😊
