If I don't like the game, I don't finish it. But if I had to pick the worst, I'd go with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. I like the game, but I am not a fan of either ending. They're both a major letdown.

What's the worst game you finished/rolled credits on?

(games media folks, it can't be something you were assigned to review; this has to be something you subjected yourself to of your own free will)

It's either a mathematically impossible question or a test of one's willingness not to ask the daughter's age. Either way, the correct answer is "I don't care."

My favorite part is Wilkins being disappointed that he won't get to finish the speech because The Ascension is starting early. He had a whole section about civic pride!

Indeed. It was invented by a young hotel heiress named Claire Chandler. She wanted to give people a consistent source of clean energy, so she used her engineering skills to create one, then gave it away for free (after ensuring it was safe and functional, of course).

Lila goes to check on the tri-power generator.
Amber and Julie go look for candles or flashlights.

For context: A tri-power generator is an invention in Lila's universe. They can generate wind, solar, or hydropower depending on the weather.

I've got the ending figured out: Amber and Julie escape Ashmere by scaling the town gate, but they aren't able to save Amber's mother. A couple days later, they research Ashmere and find that the name appears throughout history, but never as a town. They try to go back, but it's gone.

14. Now that you have some ideas of your story's beginning and the main character's goals & growth, can you come up with a few different story endings that would be satisfying for a reader?

Depends on their mood, but usually about ten to twelve feet.

Inside Man. Love that movie.

Without saying Malcolm X, fav Denzel Washington Film?
Denzel Washington in a black suit, short black hair. looking away. hot.

“At the end of the day, it's not about what you have or even what you've accomplished. It's about what you've done with those accomplishments. Its about who you've lifted up, who you've made better. It about what you've given back.”

Amber and Julie post tree-climbing videos so that their 100 to 200 viewers can vote on who is better at it.

Julie usually wins, since Amber isn't very athletic and often needs a boost from Julie to even get started.

Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters

For the sake of this hypothetical, your characters have social media in their world.

Do they use it? What kind of things are they posting about? Pictures, video, or text? What do they have as a profile pic?

If your main characters are trying to break into a building that is supposed to be secure, getting inside should not be as easy as opening a conveniently unlocked door.

This annoys me in every horror movie about a bunch of kids breaking into an abandoned building. Why would that door be unlocked?!

It originally started with Amber, Julie, and her Mom arriving at Ashmere, but then I decided I should spend a few pages establishing their relationships first.

13. Let's begin brainstorming the main plot points of our WIPs. Knowing what you know of your main character(s), what are a few potential ways you could begin their story?

For once, I have one for this:

No matter how much we pushed against the gate, it didn't budge. We weren't about to give up, though. Without missing a beat, Julie dropped to one knee and cupped her hands together. I stepped in and she hoisted me up. Just like in our tree-climbing videos.

The image behind the text is a border that is black with stars with a light blue rectangle highlighted by a fuchsia line. An illustrated caticorn holding a pencil and writing in a book with a rose behind one ear is in the lower right corner

For Amber, it's Ashmere itself. It knows exactly how to push her buttons and scare her, as well as how to use hostages against her.

For Lila, it's the absolute conviction of local law enforcement that they have all the answers.

12. What could you use to represent obstacles that try to stop the main character(s) from achieving their goals and from growing into the person they could potentially be? Consider other characters, forces of nature, difficult circumstances, etc.

Speaking of books, Magica Riot is excellent. I love it.
arthurclybourne.bsky.social
Character. I need a clear idea of who the protagonist is before I build the world they're going to live in.
sayaashrah.bsky.social
Character, always. I may have an idea about the setting, but it's the characters who will guide the development of it.

I just got an e-mail that my Twitter account has been suspended for "inauthentic behavior."

My reaction: "I still had a fucking Twitter account? I thought I deactivated that ages ago."

No idea which non-action of mine is being called "inauthentic", but who gives a fuck?

Lila will learn that justice means more than just solving the mystery and catching the criminal. It also means knowing who the real bad guys are and holding them to account.

"It'll be hard if you stay. But I'll fight for you. I'll still be here. You'll carry us both with you always. And we're gonna argue in your mind always. It'll be so fucking hard, but I'll help you carry her."

Well, that looks suspiciously like a detainment without probable cause.

This is not a border crossing.
There’s no law that any of us have to show our papers on the interior.

This is a blatant civil rights violation. How is anyone supposed to know whether this man is a real ICE agent or just pretending to be one?!
