This is the biggest rollback of LGBT rights in the history of the UK. I'm ashamed to even live here.
BREAKING 🚨

The updated EHRC Code of Practice has now been sent to the Government. The Code is just as bad as we feared.

It would mean a mandatory trans bathroom ban, and trans people's exclusion from public life. The impact would be devastating.

But politicians still have time to stop this.

Here to gather up, analyse and disseminate your data to help uplift the comics world, like if Robin Hood was a statistician or something.

The aim and effect of leaving the ECHR can only be to reduce rights protection in the UK - maybe for some immigrants, but potentially for other groups out of favour with the government of the day, and ultimately for everyone /2

You can't be anti-fascist if you're transphobic. And if you're "gender critical" then you are at the very least a collaborator, if not fash yourself, because "GC" is gender fascism. It doesn't matter how left-wing you think you are.

Haemorrhaging support every day, wrecking what would have quite an easy nice legacy, making the lives of minorities actively worse and making sure I feel anxious and depressed all the time....Sir Keir has played a blinder again!
Oh nothing, just the actual Prime Minister telling people they’re entirely correct to drive asylum seekers out of their communities

“I don’t want asylum seekers to live on my street” is genuinely a wild thing to say as a notionally progressive politician

The direct line from Britain's weird fringe anti-trans extremist campaign to No.10 Downing Street
Keir Starmer’s new director of communications isn’t just the founder of Portland Communications – which represented Qatar, Russia and Kazakhstan – he’s also come straight from the board of the anti-trans charity Sex Matters.

The government is heading in a dark direction.

Today, along with over 80 partner organisations, we are writing to MPs across the UK calling for robust Parliamentary scrutiny of the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s (EHRC) forthcoming Code of Practice. Read the full statement on our website:

The “British person” in this instance was me; I do find it deeply amusing that, as well as being extremely racist about British Indians and their role in British food culture, this America has managed to name the curry that was most famously created in Britain
I think that IS Loki in that pic.

I know it’s been said but WOW nothing makes me think someone is more pathetic than obsessing over the flag assigned to the manmade borders you’re born in to. Frightened little rabbit boys, they’re so pathetic x

This is a UK organisation, and the petition currently stands at over 40,000. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the majority are supportive. The noise comes from a tiny minority.

what if the UK had a major political party that appealed to people who didn't love pogroms

All three parties want the votes of the same 35% of the electorate because those are the people who will vote for crackdowns, flag-fucking, means-testing, xenophobia, war, bungs from donors and stomping hard upon the sick, the poor and the left, and that is exactly what all three parties want to do.
i actually think brits aren't especially bad on the whole, so why all 3 parties are chasing the 35% of people who are assholes and no one else is a mystery!

Flippancy about snowmobiles and fur coats aside, not to mention the risks of emboldening far right misinformation, there's a lot here which is just plain cruelty. Parents can't try and save to buy a child a toy, people can't listen to audiobooks. It really is a "they should suffer" type of policy.
Considering people seeking asylum living in hotels get less than a tenner per week, and those in other accommodation get less than 50 quid, this really is performative nonsense from the Home Office. People aren't buying fur coats and snowmobiles FFS. 1/

If there is 'a widespread perception among much of the public' that egg-stealing goblins hide in their attic you don't address their 'legitimate concerns' by declaring a war on attic goblins, you point out loudly & confidently the truth: that their beliefs are insane, propagated by nasty crackpots.

Noone gives this take the other way round, do they? No one advises conservatives that calling their enemies communists, extremists, anti-semites, Britain haters etc. "doesn't work"

Because political name calling plainly *does* work, if done regularly at sufficient volume with a big enough platform

People saying Trump is dying or possibly dead, but I for one would urge caution, because it is quite possible a second healtbar will appear as he enters his second phase and a gargantuan centipede will burst forth from his torso, so be careful of his new sweep attacks and toxic buildup from bites.
