Much like the Star Wars trilogy original theatrical versions, the original versions of games (ESPECIALLY important ones like the first 3 RE games) should always be preserved.
Hackers/pirates are the most reliable source for media preservation.

I don’t have a problem with remakes on principle. But they are DIFFERENT GAMES. Even in cases when they are superior, they are not replacements.

Capcom and or the MH team also acts like this about older MH titles where they don't see why anyone would want to play them when they're "outdated", every older fan is yelling for simple ports of previous games. At this point almost the entire series is being emulated just so people can play them

Absolute moron statement from Capcom.
"Yeah we made remakes though."
Never mind the fact most people complained that RE3 Remake cut content from the original game and was inferior to it.
While RE1&2 Remake are good, I would never call them a full on replacement for their originals.

My Random PS1 Runaround today has taught me that Carom Shot 2, a pool game for the PS1, had some of its assets reused in a Simple 1500 game, Billards, which uses a different style for the characters and has a different story mode.
