Trump is upfront in saying he will use the shutdown to punish Democrats, and here are the receipts. About $27.2 billion cut from Dem districts compared to about $0.7 billion in GOP districts.

Happy Birthday, Max!

My kiddo turns 7 today. And my god do I feel old. His cousin is seven years older than him (now about to enter high school and is following in his dad and my footsteps), and I vividly remember him holding Max when he was born. So same age as the picture I’ve had up forever. ☠️🪦

Just figuring out this game feels like an accomplishment on its own. I’ve missed that in modern games, and for those that do push their players with a steep learning curve, I rarely have had the time and/or patience to dive deep the last few years.

It’s a nice gaming feeling when it all clicks.

Really it’s cool how the game fundamentally changes based on just a few initial starting conditions. And the end game goals lead to unique gameplay strata, which all carry surprisingly good stories. That’s a cool balance in any game, but especially a grand strategy focused one.

After really trying to get the more difficult concepts of Stellaris strategy learned, I finally feel like it’s all come together. Did 100 years today of a custom civ called “Empire” that mirrors the one from Foundation. Evil, but it has a bunch of dynamic elements and isn’t straight militaristic.

I’m really just obsessed with these cats being so friendly with such a huge dog.

Maeve’s is a gigantic Irish wolfhound. A true gentle giant. But her *mouth* is large enough to eat a cat in two or three bites. I’d suspect evolution wouldn’t be ok with this, yet here we are.

I really miss software and games that came with thick, huge manuals. They inspired me as a kid to learn everything in them.

That meant learning BASIC was both a thing I did with the TRS-80 model 100 and wherever I read the book.
