I've been thinking about how universities also burned up all kinds of trust from their faculty and staff during COVID w their reopening shenanigans. Then add in the protest crackdowns in the spring. I think that's just... gone. So the people who SHOULD be most invested are mostly suspicious

I will continue to push that even when people say they have lost trust in higher ed, it doesn't mean it's for the same reasons and rebuilding trust with one community could exacerbate issues with another.

Academic version: you don't have to cite assholes. You don't have to invite them to conferences. Or to workshops. Or to be speakers. You don't have to engage with them at all!

you have the right to not hang out with assholes. you deserve not to hang out with assholes. you are under 0 obligation to socially interact with assholes in your free time.

it is truly terrible that our culture tricked so many people into thinking that they’re obliged to be friends with assholes!

Tweaking a request I have made before: do you have a paper that is (1) published, where (2) you preregistered the analysis including a power calculation, **and** (3) the preanalysis plan is posted *publicly* where anybody can look at it?

Finding that for many teaching examples, PAPs are nonpublic

My office snack cart is dangerously low on candy (somehow, the healthy snacks are still available 😾)
A rolling cart with rainbow drawers. It is s
topped w a Nespresso machine, a tea kettle, and some canned sparkling water. There's a homemade felt award that says "you tried" on one of the drawers. The wall and carpet behind it is the most beigey beige
