The behaviour of people changes when they know they’re being observed, which makes conducting adequate user research a real challenge. Few phenomena can impact the validity of your findings as much as the Hawthorne effect and social desirability bias.

We have one really great recruiting partner -- and then we have our self-service tools (chiefly UserInterviews). But we have such a mixed experience with most other focus group facility-based recruiters. I don't understand what's happening with the industry. It seems like they've just given up.

Don't just interview users by asking them predetermined questions in a predetermined order. Have conversations. Lose the script, go off on a tangent, dive into uncharted waters. If your research keeps teaching you what you already know, what's the point? #uxdesign #uxresearch #userinterviews
