It's still not *good*, the left still shrank and the extreme right remained stable in amount of seats (although they're a lot more splintered right now), but this is probably the electoral result I hate the least in quite some time.

They AREN'T examples of either: what they are are political dynasties. Political dynasties are a bad thing of course, but nowhere as bad as a population splintered into self-contained clans and thus unable to cohere as a nation-state.

The Greek right has splintered too, it's just that the main centre-right party has managed to hold onto a much larger slice of the vote (a good election for New Democracy now is around where their worst results used to be pre-2008)
