After today’s picture description, there will be a short poem which l have written which was inspired by this shot Our picture shows a dramatic sunset sky filling almost the entire frame. The upper portion is very dark, nearly black, as night is slowly descending. Beneath this darkness, thick clouds glow in deep shades of red and burnt orange, layered like soft waves across the sky. Near the centre, a striking, bright golden-yellow streak of cloud cuts diagonally from left to right, shaped like a long feather or flame, standing out vividly against the darker reds around it. Lower in the sky, the colours soften into warm amber and pale orange, fading gently toward the horizon. Along the bottom edge of the image, a line of bare trees appears in silhouette. Their thin, branching shapes are black and delicate, reaching upward like fine lace against the glowing sky. There are no people or buildings visible, only sky, light, and trees creating a quiet, powerful sense of nature at dusk. And finally our picture today is finished off with a simple white border frame….here is the poem I’ve written for this capture. I call it…. “The Sky at Day’s Last Breath” The sky burns low in embers deep, Where daylight learns how dark to sleep. A golden flame, both soft and bright, Cuts through the red and welcomes night. Black trees stand still, in whispered prayer, Their branches etched in cooling air. The sun departs without a sound, Yet leaves its fire on cloud and ground. And in that hush, the world feels small, Held gently in the evening’s fall.

Did anyone in Ireland see a bright white flash, somewhere northwest of Donegal, at around 06:20 local time? The western sky lit up for a moment. No noise, no clouds...

Photograph taken at Ballintoy in Northern Ireland. One of my favourite coastal spots - rugged and wild. Scene of a rocky coastal area with a small stone building on an outcrop of rock, some small waves and a dramatic blue sky with clouds overhead. Apparently Games of Thrones did some filming there but I've never seen it so who knows! Beautiful little place, whatever the weather is lobbing at you.

A #painting from a series I did of a bay in the west of Ireland. "Bertraghboy Bay 5" came out of a day cycling in Connemara where I was on a high from the incessant beauty of it all as every bay and mountain came into view. #art #SpeirGhorm #ArtAdventCalendar

Our picture shows a quiet outdoor scene at dusk. Tall, leafless trees dominate the foreground, their dark trunks and fine, tangled branches forming dramatic silhouettes against a softly glowing sky. After today’s photograph description, l have included a poem l wrote about this scene. Our picture shows a wide field of ripened grain, likely barley or wheat, stretching across the entire scene taken just down the road from where l live in rural Ireland. The stalks are tall and heavy, their heads bowed and tangled, colored in warm shades of gold, bronze, and deep amber. A narrow path runs straight through the center of the field, cutting a dark channel between the dense crops and drawing the eye toward the distant horizon. In the far background, low farm buildings sit small and quiet against the skyline. Above them, the sky dominates nearly half of the image. Thick, dark storm clouds roll overhead in layered shades of charcoal, grey, and steel blue. Lighter patches of sky glow faintly through breaks in the cloud cover, with a late afternoon approaching storm looming. The overall mood is dramatic and moody, the warmth and richness of the grain contrast strongly with the heavy, threatening sky. There is a sense of wind moving through the field, as if the grain is whispering beneath the coming rain and finally we have a simple white border frame to our picture. And now today’s poem… I call it… “Before the Rain” Golden heads in quiet prayer, Bowed beneath a darkening sky, The earth holds its patient breath As storm-born shadows wander by. A narrow path through whispering grain Leads where distant rooftops lie, Between the warmth of growing life And thunder’s gathering reply.
