I vomited a 5k kamiuzu-sensei/himawari fic after the latest scanlation

I mean, a weekend trip???

most of it isn't! even stuff like Kashimashi Meshi, popular enough to get a TV drama, is barely visble even in the scanlation scene!

scanlation websites letting people upload webtoon slop manhwa and getting shut down over it </3 kim jong-un please invade and re-educate this capitalistic vassal state of the american empire so that they may never again produce isekai villlainess romantasy, rape yaoi, or solo leveling

One of my foundational pervert building blocks was reading a scanlation group's upload of You're My Love Prize in Viewfinder and frothing at the mouth at a young age.

12. Atom: The Beginning (caught up)

the scanlation seems to be abandoned but yeah. Neat little story of an idea at an astro boy prequel, author is clearly a Tezuka Sicko and constantly making some deep ass pulls

el estado de las licencias y el scanlation del shoujo qué se me antoja leer hace que cualquiera piense 20 veces al día que quizá debería aprender japonés.

reader like mangadex does.
if it's a title by an official publisher you can pay for it but let's be honest here nobody is doing that.
pirated manga are often run by independant scanlation teams that translate and clean up the work and put it out on various websites.
it's hard to keep track of since

batoto had some really hard to find series in its library, of scanlation groups whose own sites went down years ago, in easy to access form. huge loss.
January 19, 2026 at 10:24 PM
it's been a rough couple of years with scanlation sites/hubs getting nuked (batoto is confirmed dead for good as of today)

i think it's a real fucking shame :I

Crazy how these scanlation sites exist for years until they start hosting webtoon I LEVELED UP AND GOT REVENGE slop and that gets them purged from the internet.
January 19, 2026 at 9:31 PM
This is all still *framed* as a learnable skill even if the manga's narration tries to tell you it's not that.

In a sense, the 4chanese scanlation is almost a benefit, because financebros DO talk like that---r-slurs and all---constantly. It's authentic to the spirit if nothing else, I guess.

oh yes! i follow this artist I was hoping it would get an official release or scanlation
January 19, 2026 at 7:31 PM
prediction: a fansub gets made that's just the scanlation dialogue and people pretend it's "the real script"
January 19, 2026 at 6:05 PM
It was confirmed via their discord server that Bato (A scanlation aggregate site) will cease operations due to ongoing legal challenges with copyright infringement

Again, the scanlation is accurate:

i don’t know if you ever saw my old tumblr scanlation of víbora/cairo/madriz artists but it’s a shared pipe dream
January 19, 2026 at 12:31 AM

FINISHED COMPILING MY GAIAPOLIS SCANLATION TIME FOR PROOFREADING
January 17, 2026 at 1:29 PM
I've finally found a scanlation so dogshit I cannot continue reading it
January 16, 2026 at 10:13 AM
On a related note, this might affect the release plans for the re-scanlation.
January 15, 2026 at 9:57 AM
Oh that sounds like a *really* cool project, fan translations are awesome.

Does the existing scanlation drop off at a decent point? Might wanna check this one out.
January 15, 2026 at 4:40 AM
not sure what the ecosystem is like these days, but i used to go on scanlation sites 15 yrs ago and search by genre like seinen, drama, psychological, etc, and click on random titles i’d never have known about otherwise

All caught up to chapter 76 of the scanlation. This one is a banger. 100% worth checking out. Really hope it's doing well enough to get an anime soon. There are enough chapters for a 24ep season one that ends on a really good spot that teases for S2 #animanga
The first 8 chapters of Albus Changes the World really hooked me. A seemingly generic hero's journey to defeat the demon king but with an interesting twist. He can turn back time. He's basically trying to minmax his demon king speedrun in order to reduce the damage done to the world by the demons

I have no particular objection to feeling seen in 100 Girlfriends as compared to literally any other media [it comes with the domain of being a story witch]

the knowledge that this eloquent English is a passion project of the scanlators is a certain kind of both humbling and awe-inspiring though
January 13, 2026 at 10:23 PM
That age old problem of a scanlation group suddenly dropping a series you’ve been religiously reading. 😭😭😭
