A very happy birthday to Francis Crozier, who still has more of them than the King (thanks to dates varying depending on the source), but today is the real one, according to his father - I wrote about the mystery in www.thethousandthpart.com/notes/the-ma... #NavalHistory #PolarExploration

Surviving 36 Hours in a Tent During an Arctic Storm @noordinarymonday
What happens when the wind is so powerful it rips the air from your lungs? 🌬️ During an expedition across the Greenland ice cap, adventurer Sue Stockdale and her team found themselves trapped in a fragile tent for 36 hours as a violent storm raged around them. Outside, the wind made breathing almost impossible. Inside, four people huddled together knowing that if the tent collapsed, there would be no way to survive. In this clip, Sue recalls the most terrifying moment of her career — a reminder that survival in extreme environments isn’t just physical, it’s mental. 🎧 Hear Sue’s full story on No Ordinary Monday: https://www.noordinarymonday.com/ep009-sue-stockdale 👉 Subscribe for more extraordinary career stories: @noordinarymonday Timestamps: 0:00 – 40 km ski into the storm 1:00 – Building the snow wall 2:00 – The wind makes breathing impossible 3:00 – “If the tent collapses, we won’t survive” 4:00 – Trapped for...

Here is a line from my current read (the American Dame one) which much more accurately reflects my innermost machinations:
"I have got the Arctic lure and will certainly go North again." Sadly it's p94 tho - p157 in this one is a picture so I'm just claiming this one 😁 #PolarExploration #BookSky
