Tonight's wine is Affogato Rosso 2024, a blend of Negroamaro, Primitivo, and Nero di Troia. Lots of berry with a hint of vanilla and dash of raisin (?). Would drink with dinner.

In the south we are big fans of the Mediterranean Noir branch of Italian crime noir (particularly Puglia Noir from Carofiglio, Genesi - both from Bari), and especially with a glass of Negroamaro. Have yet to sample some Venice (and Bologna) Noir.
Generally, must try to catch up with other reading!

my only real hot wine take is that Puglian wine is the most slept-on wine in the world, IMO. Every grocery store in southern Italy is packed with incredible robust reds under like six euros, and basically none of it is bad. Primitivo and Negroamaro-based wines from Salento are my fave.

I bought this wine because my local usual joint for wines and liquor, Stirling Fine Wines, was conducting a sale: at the normal price, this wine was listed for $20 and 2 weeks ago it was on sale for $6. The sale was too good to pass and also for $6 a bottle, I didn’t risk much.
