Pushing robotic for nanofab & photonics for quantum technology is the focus of my new research group, ALPS.ml (@uni-saarland.de, Saarland, Germany).

I am looking for PhDs to work with me.

If you want to automate the future of science, DM me or contact me here: alps.ml/group/work-w...

Our department (UW-Madison Electrical and Computer Engineering) has two openings in semiconductors and quantum technologies

First, an open-rank (asst/assoc/full) search in quantum engineering, broadly defined, especially in experimental areas that take advantage of our nanofab resources

With 3D nanofab techniques, Yan-Jun Liu from Fudan University decoupled physical cues to show how confinement and low adhesion switch mesenchymal cells to a fast amoeboid migration state, controlled by H3K9me3 heterochromatin as a nuclear mechano go/no-go sensor. #MBIMPG2025

Interested also in your reflections on the UK scene - Gareth Roberts recruited me to Sheffield, & I knew Jin Feast very well. We did explore the single molecule area with our nanofab people in early 2000s, but ended up working with Richard Friend on plastic electronics, turned out to be a better bet

NanoFab Reflection will house one of the most expensive machines ever built for computer chip manufacturing, the $400 million EXE: 5200 High NA EUV lithography machine. The machines use extreme ultraviolet light waves to etch atomic-sized transistors onto silicon wafers used to make computer chips.
New Albany NanoTech building now to cost $614 million
Most of the funding for the national R&D center in Albany is from the state. NY CREATES sought $150 million bank credit line to cover increases.

@profrachelgan.bsky.social there you go! Now it's officially my favourite nanofab story 🤣

The hilarious book I'm currently reading. There's also a fascinating story of a nanofab built over indigenous burial site, and shaman fixing a yield issue, let me know if I should post the snapshot of that, too.

They're hoping that by building graphene-based sensors and devising a substrate that DOESN'T trigger the foreign body response (a member of the group is doing some NEAT things with hyaluronic-acid-based gel!)--well. We'll see!
I was on the micro and nanofab side of the project.
