They all have interesting little features. But I must admit, those little spines above the eyes of Megabunus diadema do look fabulous.

Do you have a darling among these four?

A quick visit to microWild yesterday while showing off the project to an interested party. I turned a stone (about 1 metre from where I found my first ever Megabunus diadema harvestman) and two M. diadema harvestmen were staring back at me.

Bear in mind, the body on this is only 2-3mm long. 😍

Joined Wil Heeney (Longhorn Beetle Recording Scheme) on Sunday to search for the longhorn Lamia textor near Maesteg. No sightings but Wil found some suitable willows (larvae develop in the roots). We also saw 17 Black Oil Beetles, the moth Diurnea fagella, harvestman Megabunus diadema, and an Adder.

I visited my www.microwild.org meadow today and turned some stones and wood, finding these four beautiful harvestmen.

There are just over 20 species of Irish harvestmen, a great introductory order for beginners.

Reach out if you want to know more.

Which is your favourite of the four below?

Some people might say I am obsessed with harvestmen. But I don't know what they're talking about.

Dicranopalpus ramosus
Platybunus pinetorum
Nemastoma bimaculatum
Megabunus diadema

How did I get to my 60s without knowing of the existence of Megabunus diadema? It's like something from a science fiction film. Trigger warning- spider.

I don't often come across my faourite harvestman Megabunus diadema, look at those 'eyelashes'

You may not know this, but I am the Harvestman validator for Biodiversity Ireland. Someone must validate all those records you so excellently enter. And for harvestmen (Opiliones), I am he.

Please, go crazy in 2025 with Harvestman recording! Here's how...

Great video and useful advice. Sadly Megabunus is really scarce in Norfolk but still worth searching for in ancient woodland. I've only ever seen one once and that was in Cumbria.

Megabunus diadema is probably my favorite from this lot. This one is a juvenile, it's body is only about 2mm long.

A rather large Harvestman hanging out on the door this afternoon. I'm thinking Leiobunum rotundum but haven't got a clue with these! 🔎 @Megabunus #harvestman

Dicranopalpus ramosus agg X 2, Paroligolophus agrestis & Nemastoma bimaculatum from Cuilaphuca Wood, Co. Carlow this week. Appreciate confirmation @Megabunus @josh_ecology

Megabunus is always fun to find, but I admit to being fond of the little goth Nemastoma.
