On a bit of a roll regards new for the year moth species, although i did expect to see these 2 way before the middle of October ;
Light Emerald : in the entrance of the carpark on Cadder Rd.
Silver Y : in the entrance of one of the carparks on Lochburn Rd.

Took a walk along the F&C Canal to Lambhill Stables/Cafe on the Canal and was rewarded with my first ever patch Streak 😃 The outside lights also produced my first Feathered Thorn of the year. Moth yearlist (all stages, no trapping) #162

Not a lot to report from my 4.7 mile early morning walk apart from this wee tiny juvenile Walnut Orb Weaver. Perfection in miniature!

Had to go into the city to buy some train tickets to go and see my 2 daughters & granddaughter next month. I walked it along the canal but not a lot doing : the Oily Waxcaps i found last week had now matured and 4 Cormorants were roosting/preening on one of the lights along the M8

No problem Nicky. They'll make their way into the leaf litter eventually. They're often found on fence rails/posts at this time of year. These species feed on Aphids on the underside of Sycamore leaves but end up on the ground when the leaves drop.

Some species will overwinter in a state of diapause in leaf litter.
