#holobiont
Imagine still viewing animals and plants as discrete entities in 2026. To ignore the shift toward holobiont terminology at this stage is to admit you’ve willfully stopped reading the literature, basically on how host systems work.

Righto. Ive leveraged Whitman's H2C community heritability in some of our holobiont work. Looks like this group is thinking about it similarly. Good to have more folks in the kitchen.

The future of framing phenotypic variation in the visible world is in the holobiont. This article picks up on a theme that we've promoted for years, which is to move beyond simple, one organism heritability to community or holobiont heritability.

Despite a relatively stable microbiome, we reveal that microbial co-occurrence networks shift between daytime carbohydrate catabolism and nighttime methylotrophy, indicating metabolic hand-offs across domains of life within the holobiont. #SymbioSky #ProtistsOnSky
