my mum worked in book distribution so they were selling a lot of that variant when the movie came out and I remember stacks of the hardback edition in her office. alas it's actually about the fashion industry.

I'm considering doing something a bit bonkers: a collector's edition annotated hardback of Jack of Thorns.

It's probably going to hit 500 pages, and I'm eager to go ham and do alternative dust jackets lolol I can't imagine the cost of postage 😭🤣

Who wants one? 😁

Oh, even better: there’s a proper biography of J.G. Ballard coming out in April, mostly written by Priest and currently being completed by his widow (also a scifi writer). https://coles-books.co.uk/the-illuminated-man-by-christopher-priest-hardback
The Illuminated Man by Christopher Priest (Hardback)
This book is about J. G. Ballard. This book is also about death, love and time travel.

My wife and I helping the kid with homework:

"How thick is a picture book?"

Me: What kind of book? For kids or a coffee table book? How many pages?

Kid: Is it hardback or paperback?

Wife: You're going to have to tell your teacher this house is too autistic to answer these how she wants.

I got this in hardback and haven’t been able to put it down. The chapter I just read was about Spike Lee and his inspiration for “Do The Right Thing.” #Booksky

Vintage hardback copy of "Sammy the Elephant & Mr Camel." From 1988, this is a delightful storybook about childhood bedwetting. It helps kids cope and develop self-esteem. etsy.me/3CARIXy #etsy #parenting #therapy #counselor #childcounselor #vintagebook #storybook

The Ax is one of the best books ever. I kept my hardback when I gave almost all my books to library book sales after going Kindle. I still reread it.

Authors copies (hard and paper) have arrived. yay!!
The book isn't acctually released until the 16th but for once Amazon delivered the author copies early
You can pre-order on kindle, but frankly the hardback is just so nice

My husband bought me this book (published in 1965, I believe) JUST BECAUSE I was going on a deep dive trying to find a good historical Irish song to include in a FANFICTION. This isn’t even for an original WIP. But he supports my writing, whatever it is, and I love him dearly for it.

Yes, definitely! I was reading her stories last year in the lovely Virago Modern Classics hardback—although come to think of it, I don't think I've read all of them yet. The one that really haunts me (sorry) was 'Miss Mary Pask', very odd and strange and wonderful. I want to re-read it again, soon.

I did the dust jackets in a library thing many years ago. It was strangely satisfying with a little skill needed when a non-standard sized hardback was involved

SPARKS FROM THE FIRE | Rosalie Parker

“These stories explore a wide variety of familiar characters and settings, yet there is always a shadow world that haunts, disturbs, and threatens.”

I think I've fewer than ten copies of the signed hardback now. swanriverpress.ie/srp-title/sp...

Very much enjoying Halcyon Years by Alastair Reynolds: pioneering cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin appears to have been revived, centuries after his premature death, aboard a colony ship/space habitat on its way to a new world, and has settled on making a living as a private detective. Can all be as it seems?
