Drawing practice: freehand random shapes with seven different pens to look at what kind of lines I can get out of each of them (or want to.) Two hours in total. The thick brushes became interesting because I suddenly started drawing skeleton fish (?) with huge eyes. #drawing

I uppped the size of the canvas hoping it'd make it look better. I think i prefer the trees to look like this, but still testing. Sorry if Shadow doesn't look right, I freehand drew her there.

And finally, one of his newest, "The Sunbird's Feathers": wingssilverwork.com/the-sunbirds....

Sterling silver; citrine. Milled and saw-cut freehand; 2 photos showing the difference between direct and natural lights:

Second is "The Moon Rests On a Blanket of Stars": wingssilverwork.com/the-moon-res....

Sterling silver; Labradorite. Milled and saw-cut freehand. Only one photo, but it clearly shows the gold [and peach, and blue] in the gray:

The first pair is not seraphinite, but the grays are similar. This is "Held In the Light": wingssilverwork.com/held-in-the-....

Sterling silver; chatoyant gray moonstone. Stylized najas saw-cut freehand; moonstone cabs have a spectacular light shift, hence the 3 photos:

The band is heavy-gauge half-round wire, deeply incised freehand in quartets of Art Deco parallel lines that wrap the edges. The focal is a giant inverted teardrop of banded Labradorite, deep gold in direct light.
January 7, 2026 at 5:14 AM
Between lines and edges, the band is texturized freehand with 100s of strikes. The elliptical-wave cab is feathery gray, mist and smoke in a hand-made bezel.
January 7, 2026 at 5:12 AM
The band is heavy-gauge sterling silver triangle wire, each of the upper angles stamped freehand in a repeating motif of linked arcs formed by Wings's own hand-made stamp.

Whiffing et al. study freehand cursorless pointing across different levels of attention, effort, and target placement using a hybrid motion capture setup with 23 participants. They uncover 3 distinct pointing behaviours, each with different performance characteristics
January 7, 2026 at 2:16 AM
🖐️ How do people actually point when there is no cursor?
As spatial interaction becomes more common in AR, VR, and smart environments, freehand pointing is often treated as a single, idealized gesture. In reality, people point in many different ways depending on context.

maybe i should break down and use a little bit of my login event clippy to buy 3d assets of guitars so i dont have to freehand it anymore. there are not enough reference images in the world to account for every position and angle
January 7, 2026 at 1:27 AM
one decent balls to the wall freehand hand is worth a thousand anatomically correct referenced hand (<- getting lazier at looking for refs)

ngl the worst part of crochet is having to do maths. born to freehand, forced to count

A freehand figure and knot on A2 paper
Three inks and soft pastels

New painting underway!

I transferred my drawing onto the panel using a combination of freehand and graphite transfer paper. I then used markers to make the lines permanent and establish value relationships.

#fuzzoftheday
Kit built fuzz (build by me) from Ghost Effects Pedals based on the very rare WEM Project V fuzz pedal. I freehand drew Grandpa Munster from a photo, scanned and printed on decal paper before application. Knobs custom made by SRC Effects as shown on the sticker on the backplate.
