Been having fun experimenting with cyanotyping on paper and fabric. This could get addictive . . .
A before and after photo of a large mountain shaped rock pressing on a glass slide under which is fabric treated with chemicals for cyanotypes. Next to it, where the rock was is now a white space on a blue background. Top photo shows a plate with plant fronds looking like tiny trees upon some sticks to mimic a road. These sit on a cyanotype treated fabric outside in the light. Below is the final result with the objects rendered in white on dark blue fabric.

i did a class on cyanotyping, an art project by which found items are placed on specially-treated paper, then left in the sun for 12 minutes, then washed in a solution

on the left are my items, and on the right is how it turned out. i think it looks cool!

Cyanotyping! Not only can you do it yourself with some simple chemicals, but if you are patient you can do a very similar yellowprint version with turmeric!

Thanks Randy. Wet cyanotyping is coating and exposing immediately, whilst the emulsion is still wet. Wet on wet introduces other solutions/materials to interact with the emulsion. In these examples I sprayed dilute vinegar and added baking soda, turmeric and soap suds. Exposure times are longer.

Experimenting with image transparencies & dry plates on the paper.

A cyanotype created using an image transparency. Originally shot on 6x7, the negative was printed on transparent paper and overlayed on cyanotyping paper for the final exposure. A cyanotype created using a silver gelatin dry plate. This image is much fainter than the previous example, likely due to the thickness of the emulsion on the dry plate. The areas which appear more blue in the image had less emulsion in that particular area.
