Those anniversaries were for the Last Spike at Craigellachie, BC in 1985 and the completion of the "Short Line" across Maine in 1989. Locomotive No. 1201 is currently in long-term storage at the Canada Science and Technology Museum in Ottawa, its boiler certificate expired. 3/3

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

Continued with a small dram Craigellachie 13 year.
Classic Speyside malt matured in 50/50 bourbon and sherry casks.
More fruity with toasted marshmallows, baked pineapples and apples, cloves and some pepper.
Fruity finish.

Another wee hill on the final day of my van trip - Craigellachie (496m), above Aviemore. Windy again but stayed dry and I found it easy. Who said I’d climbed my last hill nearly 6 months ago 🐾🤔🤔🐾

Oddity bottling from ADR.

Relying on the strong sherry shoulders of Glenallachie to rescue a cask of Craigellachie.

I last visited Craigellachie NNR nine years ago to survey Scotch Argus for the University of York's Refugia Project. As I was staying in the adjacent Aviemore Hostel last night, it was only fitting to call in on them this morning!

Much better than the Enchanted Forest, just up the road, I imagine. The Craigellachie rest stop is always a good place to visit.

My bicycle repair dude is a huge whisky nerd. We talked whisky the whole time he was repairing my bike. After he was done he brought out a couple glasses and we had an ex tempore whisky tasting. Highlight was the 23yo Craigellachie. I like this bike repair dude. :D

So, if you like your whisky to taste like Christmas (figs, nuts, brown sugar, spices), go for Douglas Laing's Craigellachie 17 yrs!

It was at 9:22 a.m. at Craigellachie, British Columbia on Nov. 7, 1885 that Sir Donald Smith drove in that famous spike. Smith had co-founded the Canadian Pacific Railway.
There was no gold or silver spike driven in for the ceremony.

More distillery postcards. Craigellachie this time for Johnnie Dewar & Sons. There's not visitor centre here so these were part of a corporate Christmas gift to various clients and journos. amcmurchie.com/product/crai...

The Rivers Pollution Prevention Act is passed, helping prevent any further damage to the pristine rivers of Scotland from factories and distilleries discharging waste into them. So our precious Scotch Whisky remains just as good quality!

My second review in a series of independent Scotch bottlings is for Ferg & Harris Craigellachie 15 Virgin Oak and White Port Finishes. Both are 15 years old, and these are one-of-a-kind pours. Cheers!
