Just the presence of non believers is a problem to them no matter what they do. Alexander embraced the ancient Egyptian religion, followed their customs, and kicked out the Persians. Napoleon tried to emulate that but feigning faith in Islam and not living by it was seen as blasphemous.

I'm an atheist so I don't have skin in this game. My mother is a very devout Christian though, and I mean the good kind, not this other kind. I've read the Bible, a few times, it has some good messaging in parts even for non-believers, but these people always seem to choose all the bad parts.

A couple things: Trump isn't conservative at all. He's an authoritarian populist who successfully gaslights his base of mentally squishy believers. His believers are only humans who have been brainwashed by decades of indoctrination, yes, but they still deserve your compassion.

I really think you could do society a much larger and greater solid by exposing ALL christianity as cults, along with all religions.

I distinctly remember a day where my parents were being violently islamophobic and I posited “maybe not all Muslims want to kill us and actually just want to get along”
