It’s been a hot few days in the Perth Hills and the bird baths have been in high demand from lots of our garden wildlife.

Like this lovely Bronze Wing, who had a good long bathe today… I think he was in there for at least 5 minutes 🪶💧

The old Rosella from the other day has bought a mate around - putting a little bit of water outside my window in this heat has paid off so much

Wed I spent the day out at the Western Treatment Plant (aka Pooh Farm). While photographing a Pectoral Sandpiper, a Latham's Snipe popped out of the low salt bush and fed right in front of me. After several mins, it wandered into the scrub behind and vanished.

So many birds flying around in the wind before the heatwave! 5 species of birds were together at one birdbath. Didn't get a photo though. But interesting clouds after the wind changed direction. #aussieheatwave #heatwave #wind #clouds #ausbirds

Clearly the magpie thinks she's booked the pool and is explaining this to the two green rosellas. Not sure how it was resolved. #ausbirds #australianbirds #Tasmanianbirds #parrots

I hope you guys like owls! There may be a few posts about these Australian Boobooks that roost in our Perth Hills garden… they are just so magnificent 😍

It was hot today (40°C 🥵), this owl was feeling the heat so holding its wings away from its body 🪶

Pacific black duck. She didn't have time to do her hair but I think it looks better this way.

The beautiful Forest Red-tailed Black Cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus banksii naso) of southwest Western Australia.

A bird known to the local Noongar people as Karrak.

Lovely morning for a walk. Not a soul to be seen, just dogs barking, birds, a wallaby and a red bellied black snake crossing the road. The bird here is a Noisy Friarbird, it has a bump on top of its beak. #ausbirds #auswildlife #xmasday #bordercollie

Please enjoy my ugly gremlin babies. They are Noisy Friarbirds so this look isn’t really going to get much better. #ausbirds #wildliferehab

Our fig tree is hosting more than just figs it seems 🦉🪶

Two beautiful Boobook Owls (Ninox boobook) have made their roost in the shady centre of the fig tree. The other local birds were very vocal in their displeasure at this arrangement!

The Australian black necked stork I think fits the description.
It was out in the gully instructing an excavator on when it could move, any finds were inspected, perhaps eaten then it would step back and the excavation could continue.

Not something you see every day... an Eastern Whipbird "anting" just outside our dining room windows. Best I could do shooting through glass.
