Two artists from different cultures have come together to create a project that tells the story of the Wolf Clan at Yuquot on Nootka Island — a place of first contact with Europeans and Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations.

This research may not be a surprise to Indigenous elders or local archaeologists (i.e., bluefin tuna were first recovered from the Nuu-chah-nulth archaeological site of Yuquot in the late 1960s)

Celebration! Return of the shrine, Yuquot Whalers Washing House, sold by 2 Elders, to be taken from its secret, sacred site when all other inhabitants were away. The American Museum of Natural History never openly displayed it tho' did put out a small model.

Even at the time, the acquisition was controversial. A researcher named George Hunt traveled to Yuquot, a village near the shrine, to try to purchase it...a chief agreed to sell it for $500 only to return the money the next day following objections from his community.
