I already posted about Norton Commander and XTree, now it's the turn of PC Tools... On the MS-DOS motorway, this was the station wagon packed to the brim with utilities!

Before Windows Explorer, in 1985, there was XTree. A powerful file manager for DOS that made navigating directories fast and efficient. Many still remember it as the gold standard for managing files in the 80s and early 90s. This is the Gold version from 1989. Shot from my studio

A thought keeps bubbling up the last few days, and this morning it’s circling.

How feasible is it for a working digital artist to shift to Linux?

I’ve been PC-based since the days of XTree Pro.

Confident I could work in InkScape and Krita. Is GIMP still clunky as?

What about Office-type apps?

Digger, the 1983 game.
I am not that old, but there was an old 386 or 486 around the house that I was allowed to use since around 4 years old, and it had Digger in it.

I had to use Xtree Gold to open it.

I was bummed when I found out Lotus 1 2 3 was not a racing game.

And before anyone ELSE comes at me about ageism, I'm a grey haired old fuck. I was there when the consumer internet was born. I coded in DOS and Xtree on green and amber screens. "Old fart" is affectionate from me. LOL.
