Shinsuke Nakamura vs Hiroshi Tanahashi at WrestleKingdom has been discussed within NJPW, but it is seen as a "pipe dream."
Those in NJPW feel that it is highly unlikely that WWE would allow the match to happen due to their relationship with AEW.

The jealousy and ego of Okada has to be taken into account here. Takeshita just won the title that means everything to Okada. I think they implode leading to a match at WrestleKingdom 20.

I would say have Takeshita & Okada beat Brodido for the AEW World Tag Titles and have Brodido win them back by the end of the year to finally set up Takeshita V Okada for the IWGP & Unified Title at WrestleKingdom. Imagine that Main Event Tokyo Dome match. Okada will have no choice. 🤼

like 75% of the guys he could do a clean retirement run with are in AEW and they won't stop him from going to Japan for a WrestleKingdom match

The only contract "cash in" I want is the way NJPW used to do theirs. You win a tournament or significant match (G1) to earn a title shot at the next S Tier ppv (WrestleKingdom) and the "contract" is just an ominous totem foretelling the danger to come (recall Jay or Kenta carrying the briefcase)
