Screenshot of my Letterboxd review of Nang Nak. Score 3.5 out of 5. A tragic and at times beautiful ghost story, based on the Thai legend of Mae Nak Phra Khanong. Set in the early 19th century, a young solider named Mak (Winai Kraibutr) returns home, injured in battle, and is cared for by his wife Nak (Intira Jaroenpura) who also tends to their infant son. What is at first a tender story of reconnection slowly unravels as local villagers begin to confront Mak with allegations and gossip about Nak and their child. The two leads are very good, but there is some ropey acting elsewhere at times. Never enough to take you out of the film though, and the first hour feels extremely real. The setting in among the forest is stunning, and wonderfully photographed. A couple of brief scenes aside the first two-thirds of the film is more of a heartfelt romantic drama than a horror, albeit with a darker edge always hovering around the borders. The last half hour or so throws everything at you though, and it's pretty ettective.

I'm still on Windows 8.1 on a nearly 13 year old laptop. Would it even work?

(I'm planning on getting onto Windows 10 when I get a ThinkPad T570 in the future. T80 series uses USB-C instead of a normal plug for power, T70 was the last to not use that for T series. I do NOT want Windows 11. (WINAI))
