“Columbus took and gifted Taíno women to his crewmen, who would violently beat and rape them. Pregnant Taíno women who were taken captive gave birth to babies who were sometimes thrown to hungry dogs. Columbus established a business in the sale of 9- and 10-year-old Taíno girls for sexual slavery.”
Here's the real story of Columbus that people prefer to ignore
Need a quick brushup on exactly why so many people in the U.S. have turned against Columbus Day? Here you go.

I feel the similar "Hatuey"'story is more interesting because rather than be a king, he was a indigenous Taino warrior who was fighting against the people Columbus brought over that were invading his island.
Fun Fact: Radbod was a pagan king of Medieval Frisia who famously refused to convert to Christianity because he would rather be in Hell with his family who didn't know about Jesus rather than in heaven with Christian beggers.
His son did convert to Christianity and became a saint. #history

My nephew is Native American and PuertoRican, Algonquin and Taino. Brown, truly American, with ancient roots. His greatGrandfather, grandfather, and uncles all served. Now a chemistry doctoral candidate at Ohio State, I give him the same advice. Carry your ID! Sad disappointing and won’t be forgotten!

Why would the U.S. continue to combat the Puerto Rican nationalist movement if it's just "a floating island of garbage"?

Jamaica is a lovely island with lovely people.
Originally called XAMAICA, pronounced sha-may-ka.. meaning HIBISCUS in Taino, a Caribbean tribe.
When the Spaniards colonized and gave the islands to comendadores, slaves revolted and those who freed themselves went to the mountains, Cimarron!

You should care about Jamaica and Sudan even if you don't know anyone there and the news isn't covering it. The anti-Blackness embedded in folks' lack of empathy is gross.

Remember yesterday's Puerto Rican panaeolus antillarum? I was unhappy that the shimmer didn't show.
So I used a Spoiled Lips glitter. The chunkiness is perfect. I'm much happier. 😁🍄

To every brown person told by family you’re too white and queer to be brown, and by some white queer people that you’re too traditional to belong. We were never meant to fit a mold. We were made to reshape home itself. That’s power. You’re survival in color. 🌺

Did you know the word manatee is a surviving Taino word? Manati'no (manatees) are among the most sacred animals that provided our ancestors nourishment, tools, and ritual objects.

Seeing how the Taínos had their own mythology, culture, and especially the love they had for nature, I went ahead and combined those values with @allnazisarenonces.bsky.social 's ideological template, creating "Taíno Council-Communalism" as both a revolutionary template and a reclamatory one.

Along with that, I tried to search for the roots of my family tree, but it seems like most records aren't there.
With that information, I concluded that I had very strong, diverse, but primarily Taíno roots.
This is a major reason why I go by Yayael — it's a reclamation of my past.

Taíno history and culture. The reason why I chose to research Taínos specifically was because I neither had the bronze complexion of my dad nor the paleness of my mom. My skin was most like my Abuelita's.
