This idea of NHS EConsult nonsense for EVERY appointment is utter fucking lunacy. So far I've tried to book annual diabetes review w/zero success, reception are unhelpful tstl, as for booking a return visit with a specific Dr, not possible apparently!

Yes. A balance of action & reveals that shuts down the internal critic when something is OTT, TSTL, or otherwise out of character. That's probably the secret. My current favorite TV show is Slow Horses because the characters are so consistent. I want to go back & read the source material & analyze.

Maybe the secret is to not worry about pissing off readers about TSTL characters or twisted timelines? I'm not saying this with judgement one way or the other. More about the skill of tricking the reader into believing one thing then giving them something else so they are so wowed they forgive.

Comparison can often be fun and interesting but Julianna is very right to be bugged by this. For all the comparisons we can make there's a gaint * that needs to be appended which is that the US is the 3rd most populous country in the world and the UK is the 21st. Direct comparisons will be hard tstl
Yeah, I mean, I'm not going to argue that the US isn't a more diverse country overall, it absolutely is, it's just the tendency to look at national level demographics and try and map everything cleanly to US trends that bugs me

I SO agree with this. I never want to hear people complain about fictional characters being TSTL. Not when we're living in the most upside down, stupid timeline. 🫤
If you ever question the seemingly poor choices that characters in horror books/films make, just take a look at the news and many of those folks living around you. That should settle those doubts right quick.
